1. Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the
university. Attach an organizational chart with positions, ranges, and names for the division
which reflects the position in it as well as those supervised in the department. (This section is
used for advertisement of the position.)
The Disability Resource Center (DRC) in Enrollment Services provides services for students who
qualify for assistance, seek accommodations, and are registered with the DRC. Under the supervision
of the Director, the Advisor or Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of accommodations
for students and ensures that the University remains in compliance with Section 504 of the
Rehabilitation Act as well as the Americans with Disability Act As Amended (ADAAA).
Range 2 - Advisor:
The Advisor conducts intake interviews for new students visiting the DRC including students with
learning, cognitive, physical, visual, hearing and psychological disabilities. The individual assists the
Coordinator(s) and Director in implementing appropriate accommodations and may be assigned one
or more of the following responsibilities: alternative testing accommodations, auxiliary aids and
services, alternative media, alternative media, assistive technology, and others as needed. The
Advisor maintains records of equipment loans to students.
Range 3 - Coordinator:
The Coordinator designs and supervises services for students who qualify for services through the
DRC. Under the supervision of the Director, the Coordinator approves the accommodations
suggested by the Advisors. The Coordinator reviews and interprets disability documentation and
determines appropriate accommodations for students seeking accommodations. The Coordinator
supervises the intake process, The Coordinator ensures that the University remains in compliance
with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act as well as the ADAAA.
2. List the major responsibilities, including percentage of time devoted to each. Provide
enough detail to enable a person outside the department to understand the job (percentage

Range 2:
50% - Accommodations Implementation
 Assist the Coordinator(s) and Director in implementing appropriate accommodations which
may include alternative testing accommodations, auxiliary aids and services, alternative
media, assistive technology, and other accommodations as needed
35% - Conducts Intake Interviews
 Conduct psychosocial intake interviews for new students presenting to the DRC
 Complete Intakes and release forms
 Make referrals when appropriate
10% - Equipment and Records Maintenance
 Maintain equipment loans including the following: alpha Pros, smart pens, computer laptops,
FM systems, and other Equipment/Materials
5% - University and Community Service
 Participate on University committees and community functions

50% - Accommodations Approval and Management
 Determine appropriate accommodations based upon disability documentation, the impact of
the disability and course content
 Supervise student employees and staff needed to provide the necessary accommodations
 Work with faculty and staff to ensure reasonable accommodations are implemented in the
classroom and with the Math Department to provide Math 19/119 course
 Act as a liaison to the State of Nevada Treasurer’s Office for reduced course load paperwork
and maintaining students’ eligibility for Millennium Scholarship
 Address and resolve issues which require additional expertise or problems which are
escalated from the Advisor
30% - Intake Interview Process Supervision
 Same as above
 Supervise process of Advisors conducting intake interviews
10% - Disability Documentation Review, Evaluation, and Interpretation
 Review, evaluate, and interpret disability documentation to include:
o Psycho-educational evaluations
o Neuropsycho-educational evaluations

o Medical reports
o Other documentation as needed
5% - University and Community Service
 Participate on and/or represent the DRC on University committees and community functions
3. Describe the level of freedom to take action and make decisions with or without
supervision and how the results of the work performed impact the department, division and/or
the university as a whole.
Level of Freedom:
The Advisor(s) and Coordinator meet and interview students with disabilities and assist with
coordination and supplying of equipment and other accommodations. The Advisor and Coordinator
are responsible for ensuring University compliance with federally mandated laws of Section 504 of the
Rehabilitation Act and with the ADAAA.
Range 2:
The Advisor is required to work independently using sound judgment and decision-making skills when
conducting intake interviews and assigning accommodations for students. The individual consults with
the Coordinator and/or Director on more complex issues involving arrangement of accommodations.
Range 3:
The Coordinator is required to work independently using sound judgment and decision-making skills
when supervising the conducting of intake interviews and supervising and approving the assignment
of accommodations for students. The individual consults with the Director on more complex issues
involving arrangement of accommodations and problems or concerns of students.

Impact:
If students with disabilities do not receive the appropriate effective accommodations and services, it
could result in serious legal consequences for the University and in an inability of students to
accomplish their education goals.
Range 2:
The decisions and judgments on accommodations recommended for students by the Advisor directly
affect the persistence and graduation rate of students with disabilities seeking DRC services.
Range 3 (in addition to above R2):
The Coordinator reviews and approves the recommendations made by the Advisor(s) on student
accommodations. If accommodations are not correctly assigned and approved, students will not
receive the appropriate accommodations resulting in lack of satisfactory academic progress..
