2 POSITIONS
Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice
The Criminal Justice Department at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside seeks applicants for TWO Tenure-Track Assistant
Professors of Criminal Justice, scheduled to start in the 2016-2017 academic year.
A representative from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside will be attending the annual meeting of the American Society
of Criminology in Washington D.C. to promote these positions.

Required expertise are police, criminal procedure, criminal law and/or research methods

 Required expertise are: race/crime, juvenile delinquency and/or research methods
Qualifications for both positions:

Ph.D. in criminal justice, criminology or closely related field (a law degree only is not appropriate for this position)

Teaching experience at a college/university level

Experience with a variety of teaching methods and/or curricular perspectives

Experience interacting with a diverse and multicultural population

At the assistant professor rank, an ABD will be considered for a one-year Lecturer with conversion to a tenure-track
Assistant Professor if all requirements for the degree have been successfully completed by March 1, 2017

Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 Primary responsibilities include: teaching, scholarly research, advising students majoring in Criminal Justice, and
participating in departmental/campus/community/professional service.
 The incumbent will have a teaching load of 24 credits per academic year in the core courses of the Criminal Justice major
and minor, and in upper division electives. The candidate is expected to establish and maintain an active research
program involving undergraduate students.
The University and Area:
The University of Wisconsin-Parkside is a comprehensive campus of the University of Wisconsin System with approximately 5000
students, 120 faculty, and 70 instructional academic staff offering 33 undergraduate majors and 3 master's degrees in 22
academic departments. The campus is located between the cities of Kenosha and Racine in southeastern Wisconsin, within the
Chicago-Milwaukee corridor. The university is situated on 700 acres of prairie and woodland approximately two miles west of Lake
Michigan. Consisting of 15 buildings, the coherence and unity of the original campus design within its natural landscape has been
sustained over four decades of development. Recent additions include a renovated and expanded student center, a 250 bed
suite-style residence hall, and a greatly expanded and renovated center for the arts and humanities.
Salary: Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University of Wisconsin System provides a liberal benefits
package, including participation in a state pension plan.
