Welcome
This document describes accessing and using the Einstein application used to review logged
events of handheld devices as well as servers operating within or through the SVHarbor
environment.
Please be sure to read through this manual in its entirety to ensure your understanding of how to
use the Einstein application to search for and review logs. If you have an administrator role, you
can also set the logging level of the machines supplying data to the logs database.
Obtaining Access to Einstein Application
The Einstein application is available after you login to SVHarbor. Access to the Einstein
application is limited to designated read-only users and administrators of the application. The
corporate SVHarbor administrator will grant access to the application after security has
approved your access request.
Before You Begin – Background Information
Most applications available in the SVHarbor portal have the internal capability of capturing an
event log as various application activities occur. Historically, support personnel would have to
manually access or request transfer of those log files in order to troubleshoot errors or erratic
activities.
As part of the Einstein application, devices (handhelds as well as servers) being used as part of
other applications can now be configured to automatically capture and send parts or all of their
log files to a shared database for querying. The Einstein application also allows users to search
for the log database using a variety of criteria.

The Einstein Home page
The graphic and callouts below provide an overview of the Home page of the Einstein
application. There are two types of users of the application: read-only users and administrators.
Both read-only users and administrators will access the same application and functions. Both will
be able to search and view logs. While read-only users will only view machine settings,
administrators will be able manage (change logging levels) them.

NOTE: Although the Einstein application is designed to operate in screen resolutions as small as
1024 X 768 the screen captures in this document were made using a 1280 X 1024
resolution.
Both the Search Logs function and the Maintain Machine Settings function are discussed in
detail below.

purged by an application process.
To access all logs currently in the database for viewing, click Search.
To apply criteria to limit the list of logs to view, enter or select from any or all of the following:
(Keep in mind that the more criteria you apply, the fewer number of items will be included in the
results because the items returned must match all criteria.)
