THE GOVERNING BODY OF ST ANNE LINE CATHOLIC INFANT SCHOOL 2013 Philip Southgate- Foundation Governor-Chair of Governors D.O.B. 8th.March,1947, in Orsett, Essex. Married for 44 years 2 Children the eldest of who died earlier this year (19th.Feb.) from a blood clot on her lung. Youngest is 35 years old, Amber, and has one child a daughter, Jessica, aged 15 who attends the Ursuline High School in Brentwood. Both of my daughters and my Granddaughter attended St. Anne Line. For the past 10 years my wife and I have lived in Althorne, after living in Laindon for the previous 20 years. I am a Foundation Governor, have been Vice Chair and Chair of Finance in the past. Sarah D’Lima- Foundation Governor - Vice Chair of Governors Sarah has been a governor for several years. She has two young daughters who both went through the infant school. Father Dominic Howarth -Foundation Governor Father Dominic is Parish Priest of Our Lady and All Saints. He supports the school in our mission to live out our Catholic Faith and helps to develop the links with the parish through visits to school and regular masses. Father Dominic has a particular responsibility for overseeing the Religious Education that is taught in the school. Dean Cassar- Foundation Governor Dean has been an active support to the Governing Body over many years. He is a member of the Resources Committee. Melanie Clayton- Foundation Governor Melanie is currently on maternity leave following the birth of her second baby. She lives in Southend with her husband and two young sons. Howard Hickey- Foundation Governor My name is Howard Hickey. I am a Foundation Governor of St Anne Line Catholic Infant School. I live in Langdon Hills and work for a bank in London managing Customer Relations and Development. My wife and I have two sons aged 6 and 4. Our 6 year old is in year 2 at the school and we hope our 4 year old will start Reception year in September 2013. I applied to be a governor so that I might understand more about the school and contribute towards the continued improvement of the excellent standards of education and culture that exist here." Paul Healy-Foundation Governor Name: Paul Healy, Foundation Governor. From: Wescliff-on-Sea in the parish of St Helens Children: Saoirse (girl) aged 4 and Oisin (boy) aged 1 Occupation: Teacher (secondary)-I became a governor to try and make a difference in young people’s lives. Angela Mwanga-Foundation Governor Hello I am Mrs Angela Mwanga. Currently a Foundation Governor. I reside in Basildon. Blessed with my Husband Brian Mwanga and our two children Emma and Ethan. I am a proud member of Our Lady and All Saints Parish. I am a Registered Nurse and an Administrator within the National Health Service. I became a Foundation Governor to be part of a Body that makes and manages policy as well as to uphold the valued duty of ensuring that St Anneline Infant Catholic School and Nursery operates within its Mission Statement to prepare our children for their life as Christians in the community. Patrick Waters -Foundation Governor I am retired, a parishioner of St. Therese, Laindon. Before retirement, I spent 30 years in the media and finally ran a small Advertising Agency in London handling publicity for several charities. My wife and I moved from Ilford and brought up our 3 daughters and 2 sons in Laindon, co-incident with the building and opening of both St. Anne Schools. Our children attended these and benefitted from the strong, faith-based education, which launched them into the world. They themselves are now bringing up our twelve Grandchildren in Western Australia, California and Chelmsford! The holistic education with life-principles based upon Christian values, was the main influence in my becoming a Foundation Governor. Our children have but one chance; we must seek to get it right for them Angela Russell- Staff Governor -As headteacher of the school I work in close partnership with the governing body. We work together to shape the direction of the school and constantly look at how we can offer our children a firm foundation at the start of their educational journey. As a mother of four children and now a grandmother, I know how important this is. We strive to create a happy environment where all children can achieve, become good citizens and grow in Christ’s love. The governor’s role is voluntary yet has become a crucial part of the leadership team of the school. I feel privileged to share the leadership of St Anne Line Infant School with this team of talented governors, They offer a wide range of expertise and each bring different strengths in their role of supporting the school. Linda Amber- Staff Governor -My name is Linda Amber and I am a Staff Governor. I have two grown up children – Paul who has severe learning difficulties, and a daughter, Julia. I have a granddaughter, Daisy, and another grandchild due in the spring. I am a member of my local Methodist Church for many years and serve as a Senior Steward in my church and a Steward to our Circuit. Julia attended St. Anne Line Infant School and I started to work here at about the same time as she entered reception. I work in the school office as the Admissions Officer/Office Manager, a job I thoroughly enjoy. Our school has a wonderful Christian ethos, which is shown in the love, and care the staff have for all the children and I was delighted to be elected as a staff governor to serve the school. Laura Roel- Staff Governor I am currently Nursery Manager at the school and have recently been elected as staff governor. I am pleased to be able to represent our youngest children and be the ‘voice’ of the Nursery. I have worked in several other settings before coming to St. Anne Line including maintained and private provision. I also manage the After-School Club for Nursery, Infant and Junior children. I have a keen interest in dance and attend a local dance school in Braintree. Martin Barry- Parent Governor I am a parent governor at Saint Anne Line infant’s school. I am 50 years old, & live in Basildon(although I was born in Manchester). I have four children. aged 23,18,12,& 8.I am a practicing catholic, and attend Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Professionally-I am a human rights consultant & run a small advocacy service-where I represent individuals or groups whose opinions would not otherwise be heard. I became a governor in order to try and improve our children's education. Nicola Hodges - Parent Governor I am Nicola Hodges a newly elected parent governor at the school. I have lived in the local area all my life, I have four children my eldest son attends De La Salle my eldest daughter is at St Anne Line Juniors and my youngest two are here at the school. Along side being a full time mum, I work various part time jobs. I have a direct interest in the activities and curriculum of our school and welfare of our children. I am happy to fulfil the role of school governor understanding the needs and concerns of the parents. Maxine Newell- Parent Governor I am a parent governor and live in Lee Chapel North, Basildon. I have one child age 7. I am a Project Services Co-ordination Manager (Projects Engineering & Functional Management Team) Tube Lines (Transport for London) Currently studying for BA Fine Art University of Essex (South Essex College, Southend) I became a governor because I care about the education that the children receive. I want to make a positive and important contribution to the school. John Simmonds-LA Governor I am a Local Authority Governor. I have been retired for the last three and a half years. When I worked, it was for an oil/petrochemical terminal in Grays. I am married and have two daughters and two granddaughters. My youngest daughter attended St Anne Line Junior School and now works there as a TA. My oldest daughter worked in the Infant School as a TA for ten years before moving to Southampton.
