Westport PTA Cultural Arts Volunteer Job Descriptions Cultural Arts Cultural Arts, a subcommittee of the PTA Council, consists of delegates from all Westport public schools. Our mission is to expose Westport’s students to high quality, live performing arts; to encourage good audience skills; and to develop an appreciation for the arts. We accomplish our goals through the implementation of two programs: 1) Professional Performances at each school, and 2) Cultural Enrichment Programs that directly relate to curriculum. PTA Council Westport PTA Council (PTAC) is the umbrella organization under which Westport’s eight school PTAs operate. PTAC’s purpose is to unify and strengthen our PTAs. Council strives to coordinate and bring cohesiveness to all our efforts on behalf of Westport students. PTA Council consists of an Executive Board, town wide Committee Chairs including Cultural Arts, and the PTA Co Presidents from each school in the district. Co Chairs Cultural Arts for PTA Council Responsibilities are to: • Oversee the selection and implementation of inter school assemblies. • Schedule and run monthly CA meetings with the school delegates. • Spearhead fundraising to parents, PTAs, and grant applications. • Draft & coordinate fundraising appeals to parents via each school’s PTA. • Manage the Cultural Arts budget. • Participate at three annual PTA Council meetings to provide CA status reports. Co Chairs Cultural Arts for Individual School’s PTA Responsibilities are to: • Participate at monthly PTAC Cultural Arts meetings, providing insights from your school. • Work with your school’s classroom teachers to find and book enrichment programs that enhance the curriculum in each grade level. • Coordinate CA Performances with your school’s Principal and Administration. • Attend all multi grade level CA Performances at your school and make sure the show runs smoothly. • Write eblast texts describing upcoming performances and work with your school’s PTA President to raise funds and communicate with the parents. • Preview shows at other venues to determine whether or not the performance would be of interest for our school system.
