ARMSTRONG PRODUCT TRAINING – GRID GRID TYPES: (available in white & black) Prelude/Prelude Fire Guard/SupraFine Durable double-web construction Rotary-stitched cross tees and main beams for strengthened feel and stability PeakForm profile provides less weight but adds strength and increases stability Hot dipped galvanized steel provides superior rust resistance and baked-on enamel finish Right-handed installation 3” clearance required for installation 10 Year Warranty or 30 Year Warranty when used with HumiGuard Plus Ceiling Products Color matched to Armstrong ceilings for a coordinated design #1 grid used in the industry (outsells USG grid commercially & is specified more than USG) Prelude Intermediate-Duty Performance - 15/16” light-commercial system; weight carrying capacity up to 13.5 lbs./lineal ft. Meets all building codes for non-residential construction Cross tees available in stab-in or hook for quick installation Main Beam ht = 1-11/16”; length = 12 ft Cross Tee ht = 1-3/8”, 1-3/16 or 1-1/2” Wall Molding ht = 7/8”; length = 12 ft Prelude Fire Guard (to meet UL requirements) Intermediate Duty Performance – 15/16” commercial system; weight carrying capacity up to 13.5 lbs./lineal ft. Fire-Rated Performance – UL-approved for fire-resistive applications (expansion joints) Main Beam ht = 1-11/16”; length = 12 ft Cross tee ht (4’ = 1-1/2”; 2’ = 1-3/8”) Wall Molding ht = 7/8”; length = 12 ft SupraFine – 9/16” Exposed Tee System (available in white only): Intermediate-Duty Performance – 9/16” light-commercial system; weight carrying capacity up to 13.5 lbs./lineal ft. Meets all building codes for non-residential construction Cross tees available in stab-in for quick installation Main Beam ht = 1-11/16”; length = 12 ft Cross Tee ht = 1-11/16” Wall Molding ht = 7/8” x 9/16”; length = 12 ft Requires special size ceiling panels. Standard ceiling panels made for 15/16” grid DO NOT fit SupraFine grid system PREFIX AND SUFFIX CODES: XL: Stab Tee ML: Hook Tee HD: Heavy Duty R: Retail – Designates that the product is made for retail sale and carries a UPC bar code so that it can be scanned by the piece X: Designates that the product is PeakForm SS = Stainless Steel AL = All Aluminum WA = White Aluminum NA = Natural Aluminum G90 = Higher Galvanized Coating used for exterior applications along with white aluminum capping FEATURES: “Stake-On” Clip Has a “second stop” design which provides a tighter, secure connection (over 300 lbs. connection strength) Excellent module control Removable and reusable Compatible with Prelude and Prelude Fire Guard Systems Audible click when engaged “Rotary Stitching” Mechanically bonds the two layers of metal that form the web Increases torsion strength and provides extra stability during installation “Hot Dipped Galvanized” Inhibits red rusting better and longer than electro-galvanized or painted systems Gives a “shiny” metal finish vs. a dull finish look with electro-galvanized coating Superior base metal coating that contains up to 10 times more zinc than electro-galvanized coating ALL base metal, including the end detail, are coated with baked polyester paint for maximum corrosion resistance and structural strength G30 (standard product), G60 (high-humidity interior applications with aluminum capping) and G90 (outdoor applications) Patented profile Stronger, yet lighter weight due to shape of the profile and lighter gauge metal Easier to cut and install – requires less pressure to insert into next piece SuperLock clip for added security Audible “click” assures a proper connection every time Easy to remove and reuse – can be removed side-to-side versus end-to-end NOTE: Prelude PeakForm main beams can only be used with other PeakForm main beams “PeakForm” Main Beam (Prelude/Prelude Fire Guard/Suprafine) Intermediate Vs. Heavy Duty: Intermediate weight grid systems carry a minimum of 12 lbs. per lineal foot Heavy-duty weight grid systems carry a minimum of 15 lbs. per lineal foot Override vs. Butt Edge: XL cross tee has an override and sits on top of flange of main runner ML cross tee has a butt edge and butts up next to the flange of the main runner (does not sit on top of flange) Expansion Joint: When using a fire-rated main runner, UL Code requires an additional hanger wire be installed within 3 inches of the expansion joint because it is the weakest part of the component Our competition, USG, only sells fire-rated main runners – which is an advantage to Armstrong (hanger wire and labor savings) If a fire rating is not required, Armstrong can sell Prelude which saves money because of the price of the component and the labor involved with installation of hanger wire GENERAL ESTIMATING FOR GRID: A full carton of 12’ mains covers approximately 1,000 square ft. For every carton of 12’ mains, you need 2 cartons of 4’ tees; 2 cartons of 2’ tees (if using 2’x2’ tile) EASY UP TRACK & CLIP SYSTEM Metal track and clip system used to install direct-apply products Easy Up clip also compatible with Prelude main runners and cross tees to install WoodHaven on a suspended grid system DRYWALL GRID & FRAMING SYSTEMS Grid systems to create flat, tray, soffit and curved drywall ceilings Basement framing systems for walls and ceilings Pre-engineered with rout locations to maintain precise, module spacing saving time and money HANDOUTS: Armstrong Grid Advantage Vs.
