Main responsibilities of the role: To manage the efficient running for the adoption
centre in line with the charities main aims; homing, neutering and education and in
compliance with all policies and procedures. To be responsible for the overall welfare of
the cats in care, to ensure all administrative and maintenance procedures are completed
to the required standards and to manage the activities of all staff and volunteers.

Qualifications/experience required/desired: People management, knowledge of
animal welfare, working within budgets, customer care, working with the media,
training/staff development and delivering presentations.
Main Duties:
1.
To manage all staff and volunteers within the centre, ensuring the required level
of staff during working and public opening hours in line with the Operations
department’s guidelines.
2.
To ensure staff, volunteers and centre practices adhere to the Adoption Centre
Manuals/Code of Conduct and all relevant Cats Protection policies and
procedures.
3.
To manage and monitor the reporting of all accurate and up to date information
including financial information to all departments in accordance with specific
requirements and Cats Protection policies.
4.
To be responsible for ensuring that all relevant personnel within the Centre are
legally entitled, are certified and are trained to a competent level on equipment
within the centre including microchipping and Cats Protection’s vehicles.
5.
To be responsible for the standard of care given to the cats within the centre,
ensuring welfare and veterinary procedures are adhered to and be responsible
for the administration of all veterinary legal requirements surrounding cat care
including the handling of drugs and disposal of waste.

To actively promote the values and aims of Cats Protection to all staff and
volunteers. Focusing on homing, neutering and education/information within the
adoption centre you will lead and motivate all staff and volunteers in meeting with
Cats Protection’s objectives and plans.

To actively promote the values and aims of Cats Protection within the local
community. You will work with the Cats Protection Media Office and other CP
departments to promote and encourage a better understanding of homing,
neutering and cat care to the public using all available resources. You will do this
by giving talks to schools and community groups, liaising with the media on local
and national cat related stories and working with others to highlight the work of
Cats Protection.

To work in partnership with branches, other adoption centres and other animal
welfare organisations to promote the work of Cats Protection.
9.
To work within agreed budgets and to be responsible for the administration of all
donations and cash receipts in line with current CP and financial guidelines.
10.
To actively promote the importance of donations, fundraising and other income
within the adoption centre and to the general public and to work with others to
increase income.
11.
Working with the Deputy Manager, Training Manager, HR Dept and L&D team,
you will be responsible for the recruitment, induction and development of all staff
at the centre. You will ensure that up to date and detailed task lists are available
for all staff, that all staff fully understand the duties required of them and they are
fully trained in all areas of their work and in CP policies and procedures.

To ensure that “Paws” and all information held at the centre is managed in
accordance with the Data Protection Act.
13.
To manage the Performance Management Process within the Centre in line with
the Cats Protection Policy.
14.
To be responsible for all staff matters including the handling of disciplinaries and
grievances in accordance with Cats Protection policies and procedures, and
ensuring compliance with statutory legislation.
15.
To undertake induction and continual training to keep skills and knowledge up to
date as required by Cats Protection.
16.
To maintain all aspects of health, safety and hygiene of the working and cats
environment in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, and any
other associated regulations currently in force. To take responsibility for ensuring
that all cat areas and equipment are maintained to a high standard as directed by
the Field Veterinary Officer, Training Manager and Development Manager.

In common with all posts, ensure compliance with Cats Protection’s policies and
procedures, statutory obligations and best practice, and to undertake such other
duties as may be reasonably required by Development Manager. This job
description may be subject to review in the light of the developing organisation
and in consultation with the post holder.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
Salary
Salary will be £17,762.50 per annum. Salaries are reviewed annually on 1st June. There
is no contractual entitlement to any increase in basic salary.
Occupancy of a house on site.
Hours of Work
The normal hours of work are 40 hours per week, on a rota basis including weekends.
Because of the nature of the role, the post holder may be required to work additional hours
to ensure the proper performance of the duties and this may mean that the post holder will
work in excess of normal business hours. No overtime is payable but with the prior approval
of the Chief Executive the post holder will be entitled to time off in lieu.
Place of Work
This role is based at our Wrexham Adoption Centre, Alma House, Madeira Hill,
Wrexham, Clwyd, LL13 7HD. During the course of your employment you may be
required to travel to various locations in the U.K. on CP business. Travel and
subsistence expenses will be reimbursed as detailed in the Employee Handbook.
Annual Leave
In addition to bank and public holidays the annual leave entitlement is 25 days annual leave
rising by one day for each completed year of employment up to a maximum of five extra
days. The holiday year runs from 1st January to 31st December.
Pension
Cats Protection administers a personal pension scheme to which the employer will

Permanent positions are subject to a probationary period of three months.
Retirement Age
Please note that our retirement age is 65.
Cats Protection has a restricted smoking policy. Smoking is only permitted in designated
areas during lunch breaks and not in CP cars.
