Job Description February 12, 2015 Position Title: Trap/Neuter/Return and Barn Cat Coordinator Reports To: H.E.R.O. Program Director Supervises: Volunteers Status: Part time; 25hours/week Position Summary: Provide assistance to the H.E.R.O. Program Director with the coordination and execution of Trap/Neuter/Return programs and community outreach. The Trap/Neuter/Return Coordinator will provide onsite colony assessments and trapping and transport of community cats, and will coordinate and promote Barn Cat Program. Responsibilities and Essential Duties: Identify colonies and provide Trap/Neuter/Return support to the public via phone calls, walk-ins, email and grassroots presence in neighborhoods Implement Trap/Neuter/Return in targeted municipalities Support in the development and provide training to volunteer trapper team and coordinate other volunteer efforts related to helping outdoor cats and other community pets. Supervise coordinate and delegate trapping assignments to volunteer trappers. Provide hands on assistance with trapping cats in targeted Trap/Neuter/Return communities/municipalities and perform mass trapping projects of identified feral colonies. Schedule spay/neuter appointments with the Veterinary Care Center and in compliance with scheduling process Provide transport to Veterinary Care Center and return cats to their colony as needed post-surgery Educate and provide Trap/Neuter/Return training and information to the public or interested parties, and provide information on Trap/Neuter/Return advocacy techniques Maintain records of colonies and caretakers, situations and their resolution, gathering success stories, and producing a written report monthly and as requested by HERO Program Director Promote the Barn Cat Program and actively seek appropriate homes for when relocation is necessary for community and feral cats that are impounded at Great Plains SPCA. Maintain trap inventory in clean working condition Coordinate with Great Plains SPCA Admissions and Adoption Center Managers for impoundment of adoptable community cats Coordinate with Great Plains SPCA Foster Managers for the placement of nursing, under age and kittens that may be rehabilitated or socialized Work harmoniously and effectively with all Great Plains SPCA departments, staff, volunteers, and HERO Team partner organization-The Rescue Project Other duties as assigned Work Conditions: Wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions Significant amount of standing during a typical day Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, stooping, carrying, and reaching Significant amount of sitting when driving Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent Experience and Skills: Paid or volunteer experience in animal sheltering or animal welfare (preferred but not required) Work experience with community cats(preferred but not required); cats in general (required) High level of customer service Strong written and verbal skills Proficiency with Internet navigation, a variety of computer software applications and email Proven organizational skills and effective communication Strong record keeping skills Ability to handle and restrain animals of various dispositions Additional Information: Local travel required Must occasionally lift up to 40 pounds Must be self-guided, requiring minimal supervision Must be able to work flexible hours, possibly including holidays, weekends and late and early hours as needed or assigned Must be able to work in all weather conditions Must have a current driver’s license Must be at least 18 years of age We desire a candidate who demonstrates outstanding inter-personal communication skills and the ability to work in a team or independently with a high degree of integrity and accountability.
