Conservation benefits for the species can be clearly demonstrated by this research.
Research contributes to scientific understanding (academic) of Tasmanian ecology but has no conservation benefits
Research has the potential to benefit human health/medicine etc.
Other species will be affected as a result of methods used e.g. pitfall trapping, mist netting.
Sensitive ecosystems or communities will be affected by this research (collecting or study site).
Research/collecting needs to be undertaken on reserved land.

have discussed this work with staff of the Threatened Species Section, Biodiversity Conservation Branch before
applying for a permit, as special conditions may apply.

submitted a report to Scientific.Permits@dpipwe.tas.gov.au before further permits will be issued.
Animal Ethics Committee approval for research involving disturbance to vertebrate or higher invertebrate fauna.
(Approval is required prior to issuing of permit. A copy of AEC approval and any associated conditions must also be
attached to the permit application).

Electronic one page summary of proposed research (proforma at www.dpiw.tas.gov.au/scientificpermits) and
emailed to Scientific.Permits@dpipwe.tas.gov.au. This will also be posted on our website for a two week public
comment period.
If AEC approval is required for your research, please provide a copy of your AEC application, AEC approval,
AEC number and any conditions imposed by AEC. (If your institution is not based in Tasmania confirm that your
AEC is licensed under the Tasmanian Animal Welfare Act).

The Secretary retains the authority to reject any permit application and also to apply conditions to any permit issued. Allow 4 weeks for from
receipt of application to complete the permit assessment process. Permission must be sought from the relevant land manager(s) to access land.

may result in your application not being able to be processed or the service not being able to be provided.
3. Your personal information will be used for the primary purpose for which it is collected, and may be disclosed to contractors and agents of the
Resource Management and Conservation Division, law enforcement agencies, courts and other organisations authorised to collect it.
4. Your basic personal information may be disclosed to other public sector bodies where necessary, for the efficient storage and use of the information.
5. Personal information will be managed in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act 2004 and may be accessed by the individual to whom it relates on request
to DPIPWE. You may be charged a fee for this service.
