About CERT… The City and County of Denver, Mayor’s Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (OEMHS) in partnership with the Colorado Federal Executive Boards Emergency Preparedness Council and Centennial Airport is offering Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) to educate employees of Governmental Agencies and Centennial Airport Tenants about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact our area and trains them in basic disaster response skills such as; fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during the exercises, CERT participants can assist others following an emergency event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT participants also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in our community. If a disastrous event overwhelms or delays the community’s professional response, employees can better protect themselves and their neighbors/co-workerw by applying the preparedness skills that they learned during training. These skills can help save and sustain life following a disaster until help arrives. CERT skills also apply to daily emergencies.
