Pathway deletions
These pathways have not been recruiting well for some years and
share many of the Media Studies modules
A revised Media Studies degree will be a simplification and
rationalisation of the curriculum
No further recruitment to these pathways, propose to cease
recruiting to these pathways after September 2010 and run out the
current students over the next 3 years
Approved by Chair 19/8/10
Change of delivery mode
Cease part-time face to face delivery of the pathway
No students have been recruited on to the part-time course for a
number of years
Students not affected as there are no part-time students on the
taught LLM programme

Change of pathway titles
Curriculum rationalisation, the Department will offer one pathway
instead of three, with options for specialist focus
Old titles:
o BA (Hons) Primary Education (Initial Teacher Training)
o BA (Hons) Early Primary Education (Initial Teacher
Training)
o BA (Hons) Primary Education with Modern Foreign
Language (Initial Teacher Training)
New title:
o BA (Hons) Primary Initial Teacher Education
Existing year one and two students have been given the option to
keep the original award title, option only available to 2012
Those who have indicated no preference will be transferred to the
new pathway on re-registering for 2010/2011

Change of pathway titles
Curriculum rationalisation and review of Department’s PG teacher
training provision: Primary and Secondary
 ‘Education’ is redundant in the titles as they are PGCE awards,
and ‘Initial Teacher Training’ is also outmoded
 Old titles:
o PGCE Primary Education (Initial Teacher Training)
o PGCE Primary Education with Modern Foreign Language
(Initial Teacher Training)
o PGCE Secondary [Subject] Education (Initial Teacher
Training)
Subjects include: English, History & Citizenship, Modern Foreign
Language, ICT, Mathematics, Art & Design and Science
 New titles:
o PGCE Primary
o PGCE Secondary [Subject]
Subjects include: English, History & Citizenship, Modern Language,
ICT, Mathematics, Art & Design and Science
(Biology/Chemistry/Physics)
 No transitional arrangements necessary, existing students with
outstanding assessment in September 2010 will continue on their
original pathway until completion. Only applies to new students.

ASQRC CM1 Form changes 19 August 2010
Deletion of pathway at Cambridge and Amity Global Varsity, India
(currently inactive)
Department decided that the pathway content is now too similar to
that of MSc Computer Science hence proposal for deletion
A transitional PSF has been validated to run out existing students
using modules on other MSc awards
With effect from September 2010
