(Using ERC staff and Affiliated Veterinarian)

For the two test mares - prior to breeding
(1) Blood test each mare for CEM utilizing a CF test.
(2) Culturing the clitoral fossa and sinuses, endometrium
of uterus, and cervix on Days 1, 4 and 7 of quarantine period.
For the Stallion - prior to breeding
(3) While in full erection, collect cultures from the prepuce, urethral
orifice, sinus and fossa glands including diverticulum.
(4) If all cultures and blood tests are negative, the stallion breeds
each test mare once.
For the two test mares - post-breeding
(5) Culturing the clitoral fossa and sinuses, endometrium
of uterus, and cervix on Days 3, 6 and 9 of post-breeding.
(6) On Day 20 post-breeding, blood test each mare for CEM
utilizing a CF test.
For the Stallion - post-breeding
(7) While in full erection, the penis is thoroughly cleansed w/ 2%
chlorhexidine surgical scrub, rinsed and coated w/ 0.2%
nitrofurazone ointment for 5 consecutive days.
LABORATORY FEES
Includes shipping and processing of at least 39 culture samples
and 4 blood samples taken from the stallion and test mares.

(minimum of 9 times)
State fees are: $45.00/hour and $0.56/mile.

If all cultures and CF test are negative, the stallion can be released from quarantine
after the washing and packing procedure is complete. This will be determined by the
state veterinarian’s office.
