plants right up to your doorstep. Bring your lunch and learn from Leslie Shimer, Marvin’s Organic
Garden, as you watch exciting compositions in color and texture in a wide range of containers for
that hard to plant spot or corner that just needs some sparkle being demonstrated. Get a "sneak
peak" at the Accent plants that will be available at through our Garden Store.

Examine the role of nature and gardening in the healing process. Join Donna Walls, R.N. and
Herbalist, to learn about designing, selecting, and growing healing herbs in this year's garden.
Sample some of the teas, salves, and tinctures that can be made from these amazing plants. Book
signing will follow program.

Learn ways to care for one of gardeners most prized plants during this brown bag lunch series.
Varieties, how to choose, when & how to prune, and a more organic way to rose gardening will be

Lunch and Learn: Healthy Organic Lawns

Beautiful lawns can be yours without wasting resources, polluting the environment, and spending a
lot of money on services. Learn how some basic changes in cultural practices and product choices
for turf management, together with a beginner's understanding of soil biology, can produce a lush,
healthy, green lawn without the use of pesticides. We will provide information on transitioning from
a chemical lawn care program to an organic approach.

Sandcasting is a craft with many variations and during this brown bag program Margaret Hong will
take you step by step through this new garden art process. Real leaves are used for each piece
and a perfect replica of the leaf is formed. The skill is not only in the casting, but in the painting.

at the holiday season! Just in time for Halloween, Jo Ann Littlefield from Knollwood Garden Center
will show you how to make make a festive pumpkin centerpiece with a real pumpkin vase and
some simple holiday centerpieces from supplies in your yard!
