How technology is used to assist learning at Coral Coast Christian School:
Computers:
At Coral Coast Christian School students learn how to use computers when they commence
school in Prep. All students can access a computer using their own user name and
password. All computers are networked to the internet and students are encouraged to use
the internet for conducting research for class work and projects. Students are also taught how
to type and use a variety of Microsoft programs such as, Microsoft Word, Power point, Excel,
Movie Maker etc.
Our current technology system is in the process of being upgraded to provide each classroom
with the latest equipment available. Plans are in place to have new computers and programs
installed at the beginning of 2007 in order to further enhance the development of skills in this
key area. The school also intends to register each child on educational internet programs
such as Mathletics and Spellodrome where children play against students from all over the
world to increase their knowledge and skill in a stimulating, fun environment.
Interactive Whiteboards:
Investigations are currently being made to introduce Interactive Whiteboards into each
classroom in 2007 or 2008.
Digital Cameras and Video Cameras:
Students from Grade 3-7 currently learn how to use digital cameras and video cameras to
complete projects. Students also learn how to do basic editing techniques with the photos
and videos they have taken.
Value- added
Coral Coast Christian School offers a supportive, nurturing, educational environment that
provides small class sizes for greater individual support. We also employ two part-time
Learning Support Aides to ensure that student’s experiencing difficulties are appropriately
supported. We have a part-time Chaplain, for mentoring, guiding, and developing positive
relationships between peers and families. During times of crisis or stress we also have a
Counsellor available and this support is readily available for all students and families should the
need arise.
Parent & Student Satisfaction:
Parent Satisfaction:
26 May 2006 – “My kids travel over 100km’s to attend school every day at Coral Coast Christian School. Most
people thin that is crazy! But it’s not… the smile on my children’s faces since coming here has made it definitely
all worthwhile!” Mrs. Debi Fenger
10 July 2006 – “Marcus’s reading skills have developed very rapidly since his commencement as a Prep at Coral
Coast Christian School twelve months ago. When the Bundaberg show holiday was on, our family took a few days
out down at the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane & the Gold Coast. It was at that time that we realized just how much
Marcus’s reading had developed. He was sounding-out and reading words everywhere – from the label on a water
bottle to the ride instructions at Dream World. We feel blessed that Marcus has June as his teacher at such a
critical time in his learning. As a teacher myself, the lack of literacy in many children today is a very real fear. We
are grateful that June does so much to develop such great learning skills. Many thanks, Lisa and Glenn.”
Student Satisfaction:
‘CCCS is a Christian primary school in Bundaberg. There are 54 children. Our teachers are Mr. Tregenza, Mrs.
Botha and Mrs. Nawaikalou, who is also the Principal. The Year 4-7 children are fundraising money at the
moment for our big trip to Canberra in 2007. I have sold lots of chocolates already because we will go to the
Parliament House, the Quest-a-con Science Museum and the snow! I just can’t wait to go!’ By Calvyn Wake -Year
5
‘Today I am writing about CCCS (Coral Coast Christian School. It’s a school and so cool. You get to go to the
park, and of course to swimming. But the thing I love the most is GYM! You get to do bars, beam, floor and you
even get to do competitions and I came second, but even if I had come last people would have still cheered for me
because that’s what it’s all about at CCCS, encouraging each other and lifting people up, not putting people
down!’ From Samantha Nisbet - Year 4
‘We have been having a really special thing at our school this week! W.O.S.E! That stands for Week Of Spiritual
Emphasis! Every morning we have gone to the big tent on our school oval that was put up just for this special
week. The older children have been doing dramas and singing up the front everyday, and then Pastor Ian, tells us
some very funny and interesting stories. Everyone has been even more happy than usual this week because we are
all so excited about getting to know God even more!’ Mitchell Cooper - Year 3
‘Our teachers are great and cool. They are really fun and understanding!’ Amber Wills -Year 5.
‘We have been practicing for a fun run. It is great, because I want to be a runner, and the school is helping my
dream to come true. I like my school! Everyone loves and cares for one another. My school is great and we have
some neat games, such as soccer and capture the flag. We do lots of writing. I am not good at handwriting, but the
teachers are helping me do it. That’s how school is at CCCS!’ Talitha Mulvena - Year 4
‘To a Special Teacher – Mrs Nawaikalou! You have been good to me and you have been here for me. You have
made my life fun and I will never forget you. I will miss you very much because you have been here for me through
bad times and good times. You are precious to me and will always be remembered. I will never forget you and
don’t forget that Jesus loves you & always will. You are the best!” From Tiarna Gilbert (when preparing to
graduate.)

to thank you and your students for their wonderful performance in the CBD Pavilion on June 6 th. Such
community mindedness is greatly appreciated whilst at the same time showcasing your students

with anticipation and would like to thank you once again for assisting in the celebrations.” 8 June 2006
The Lakes Resident Association President, Derek Brown
“At the Annual General Meeting of our Association, held on Tuesday March 28, 2006, a motion was
moved and carried unanimously by the 112 residents present, that a letter of thanks be sent to your
school. It was also [assed that a certificate of appreciation be sent to you all as well. This letter and
the accompanying certificate are a result of that motion and the pleasure that the residents present
received from the visit by your school. We were all impressed by the way the students presented
themselves and by their behavior in our clubhouse. To hear you all singing and some playing
instruments is indicative of the high standards applied in the school You many not have noticed but
even some members of management and administration saw and heard you and were also impressed by
you all! The morning tea you brought us was a very pleasant surprise and much appreciated, as was
the fact that some students stayed back to chat with the residents, which I know we all enjoyed very
much. So to you all the Coral Coast Christian School and on behalf of the residents at The Lakes
Retirement Village, than you to all the students and teachers for doing us the honour of visiting and
entertaining us.”
