Author and historian, Nancy Dane, an alumnus of the University of the Ozarks, brings alive Civil War
Arkansas with four published books. The historical fiction series accurately portrays both soldier and civilian.
The novels, as well as the compilation of research titled Tattered Glory, are used with accompanying lesson
plans as curriculum in Arkansas high schools and colleges. A Difference of Opinion, book two in the series,
was nominated for the prestigious Michael Shaara Award, best Civil War fiction of 2009.
Ms. Dane, proud mother of four and grandmother of twelve, lives in the Arkansas Ozarks, the setting for the
novels. A frequent presenter at professional development seminars, she also speaks to schools and civic
organizations across the nation.
