Term: 2 Years Responsible to: Sport Services Assistant Key Responsibilities: Northumbria University is working with the Tennis Foundation on the University Tennis Coordinator programme. The roles involve planning and delivering an extensive and progressive participation tennis programme for students and staff in Club Northumbria. Duties include the administration, coaching and development of tennis opportunities for players of all standards and the development of player pathways into the University’s Team Northumbria tennis programme. The posts will particularly suit performance level tennis players who are interested in studying a postgraduate, under-graduate or professional practice degree at Northumbria University. The post-holder will represent the University in BUCS, in accordance with the Team Northumbria individual athlete agreement, and make a significant contribution to the success of the Team Northumbria tennis programme. Post One Planning and delivering quality coaching for the Club Northumbria participation tennis programme Expanding the Club Northumbria tennis programme, providing opportunities for increasing numbers of students and staff to learn tennis and develop their performance within the sport Supporting the student volunteers involved in running the Club Northumbria programme and acting as a point of contact with Jesmond Lawn Tennis Club Introducing an intramural tennis programme with the introduction of ladders, tournaments and similar competitions Undertaking such other duties as may be reasonably required Post Two Developing player pathways, to enable students to progress from the Club Northumbria participation programme into the Team Northumbria performance programme Providing support to the Head Coach to develop the University teams entering BUCS Supporting the delivery and development of the Sport Academy by providing coaching to young people in the community _____________________________________________________________________________________ Supporting student volunteers and organising coaching courses Undertaking such other duties as may be reasonably required Location: Jesmond Lawn Tennis Club, 6 North Street East and all facilities used by the department Attendance Requirements: An average of 10 hours per week.
