MUTUAL ASSISTANCE APPROVAL

The Commonwealth Attorney-General has requested that the above named prisoner
*provide evidence at a criminal proceeding/give assistance in a criminal investigation in
a Foreign Country (insert name of foreign country) under the Mutual Assistance in
Criminal Matters Act 1987 (Cwth).
Approval is granted to the above named prisoner to travel to the Foreign Country from
[insert time leave commences] on [insert date leave commences] until no longer
required to provide evidence or assistance.
The granting of this approval is subject to the conditions that the prisoner—

not commit an offence;
be of good behaviour and conduct during the period of the approval;
remain in the custody of the escorting officer appointed by the Commonwealth AttorneyGeneral while travelling to and from the Foreign country;

Attorney-General;
comply with the arrangements made by the Commonwealth Attorney-General for the
keeping of the prisoner in custody in the Foreign Country;
comply with the arrangements made by the Foreign Country for the transfer of the
prisoner to attend court proceedings or give assistance in a criminal investigation;
remain in the Foreign Country only for such time as is reasonably necessary
(if applicable, insert any other condition that, in the opinion of the chief
executive/delegate, is considered to be reasonable.).

NOTE: A prisoner who fails, without reasonable excuse, to comply with any conditions of a mutual
assistance approval is guilty of an offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6
months.
