The Research Center for Applied Informatics (CERIA) The Research Center for Applied Informatics (CERIA) is a multidisciplinary laboratory operated by Paris-Dauphine University. The central focus of the CERIA’s activity is the application of advanced information technology to organizations management and business domains. In addition of organization of seminars and technical talks, a large amount of CERIA’s members effort is devoted to : Research on the principles underlying information technology, Development of practical methods, techniques and tools based on this research, Demonstrations and testbeds to validate the research results. Research conducted in the CERIA laboratory is related to the following topics : 1. Database technology : relational, object oriented, multimedia, spatial, temporal 2. Interoperability of multi-databases distributed computer systems 3. Distributed and scalables data structures use in the case of very large data volumes 4. Software engineering (processes, methods and tools) 5. Software architecture models and languages 6. Application of interoperable architectures MIS, EIS and DSS design 7. Application of research results to electronic commerce 8. Virtual organizations, 9. Datawarehousing, 10. Electronic document management Crucial to the success of the CERIA’s efforts are the partnerships created with leading information technology organizations (MICROSOFT, HP, IBM,…) which help fund the CERIA’s research and in turn benefit trom its services. The CERIA Laboratory is directed by Professor Witold Litwin since 1998. Its staff includes a core of five teachers/researchers with Paris-Dauphine University, together with PhD. Students and associated teachers/researchers from other universities and organizations.
