The 1853 Gallery showcases his art from early drawings to recent paintings, The 2nd Gallery includes photographs and multi fax pictures, and the Stages Exhibition houses opera sets, costume designs, paintings and drawings. Many of these were collected by Violet Bagshaw, who continued to travel the world until she was 100 years old. Exhibitions change regularly. 14 Blackwell Arts and Crafts House Blackwell Arts and Crafts House Bowness-on-Windermere Cumbria LA23 3JT Tel: 015394 46139 www.blackwell.org.uk Blackwell was designed by Arts and Crafts architect M H Baillie Scott as a holiday home for Sir Edward Holt, a brewer from Manchester. Completed in 1900, it stands at the crossroads of Victorian design and 20th century architecture. Much of the original interior decoration has survived intact and been preserved to combine distinctive architecture, craft and the applied arts.
