Graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design , Southampton Row, London WC1, in 1991 with a B.A.
( Hons ) in Ceramics. She has been making, exhibiting and selling her work ever since. First she worked from a railway arch in Peckham, then moved her home and studio to South Norwood and has since relocated to the coast. She also has over fifteen years experience in teaching ceramics, from children, to adults and for inset courses in education.

Sarah exhibits yearly at Art and Ceramic Fairs across the UK, including Art in Clay events, Ceramics South East, Art Space, the Sculpture Shows events etc. Sarah has had many solo and joint shows of her work since graduating and has constantly had work on view in many galleries across the country. She has had three joint exhibitions at the CCA Gallery in Cambridge with a painter and a print maker, and has many times at either the Orangery or Ice House in Holland Park since graduating.
The above galleries tend to hold a selection of Sarah's pieces, which are topped up regularly. She has also undertaken many commissions ranging from a squid sculpture for a marine biologist from Cape Cod, USA, to sixty-four pieces for a hotel in the British Virgin Islands. She has also worked a couple of seasons from Spring Studios, Bequia in the Caribbean and still exhibits her work on the island in various outlets. Her current body of work has been concentrating on large scale out door sculpture, which includes Elephant Water Features, Blue Bird, Bird Baths and numerous creatures for the garden. All of which are exhibited & sold at outdoor art events across the country.

Artists Statement
Whilst at college my ceramic work became inspired by the wonders of the sea, but the aquarium tanks of London Zoo and
Kew Gardens were as close as I could get to the real thing! I am now a keen diver and take inspiration from tropical seas and far away locations, and the plants and animals that inhabit such places. My ceramics are vividly colourful, humorous, animated creations that depict elements of both fantasy and reality. Blue birds, aardvarks, dogs, elephants and sea creatures are some of my themes. I make both large and small scale sculpture, my work is mainly 'one offs' but I do repeat some themes. My pieces also include anemone vases, mixed media pieces, wall pieces, mirrors and clocks. I use both slabs and coils of clay in the construction of my pieces, and a variety of surface treatments and textures. I inlay a vitreous slip to highlight the surface detail, and then spray my barium glazes so they blend into each other. The colours range from white, to yellow, to orange / red, to vivid green, to turquoise, to rich cobalt blue and black. I fire my pieces to 1100 degrees centigrade and the glaze surface quality ranges from smooth and waxy, to dry and rough. My latest collection of work has been running along side my smaller scale gallery work. I have been experimenting and exhibiting large scale stoneware pieces for the garden, which include sculptures and water features. I have been enjoying the challenge of the scale, and reformulating the base glazes to suit. Clients feel they don’t have the space in the home, but they do in the garden for larger scale work.
