Incorporated in the year 1974, promoted by technocrats from the renowned
University Department of Chemical Technology, Mumbai with an idea to achieve a qualitative edge in the area of Dyestuffs, Intermediates, Fine Chemicals and Bulk
drugs. Retort Chemicals is one of the group company, engaged in manufacturing and marketing of Solvent Dyes in powder and liquid form.
Retort has its presence domestic market since 1981 and in the international arena since 1993.
This company made its inroads into the liquid dyes segment by grabbing tenders of major public sector oil companies in India. Retort capitalized on this stepping-stone, through its excellent services and quality supplies resulting in phenomenal growth in the company’s turnover, currently employing about 100 people.
At present the company has a capacity to manufacture 1500 metric tons of
Petroleum/ Liquid Solvent dyes per year and around 300 metric tons of plastic/powder solvent dyes per year. Today, Retort is a USD 9 million turnover company with its
An ISO 9001-2000 Certified company by British standards Institutions (BSI) with accreditations from UKAS.
Retort aims to maintain highest level of customer satisfaction through consistent quality supplies and synchronized operations and strongly believe in constant research and development to generate products of International Standards with highest level of Ecological and Social concern.

The three technocrats who visualized Retort Chemicals are:
Mr. Anilkumar H. Mahajan
A chemical engineering graduate from UICT Mumbai, Mr. Mahajan has been the pillar of the group right from its inception. He has been the major driving force that has taken Retort to great heights over the past 30 years.
His official designation is that of a technical director but Mr. Mahajan is actively involved in project development activities. All the technologies that are currently being followed on the plant scale are developed in-house under his regular guidance.
Mr. Mahajan has left no stone unturned for developing all new business ventures
that Retort accrues worldwide.
Mr. Nadkarni shares the same traits of hard work and resilience as his colleague and a degree in chemical engineering from UICT.
He has been successfully managing company’s domestic business affairs and solely responsible for Marketing & Purchase activities. His contribution to Retort group is seen through the timely and smooth flow of the Supply chain that has been established over the years. He is mainly responsible for development and establishment of business with all the Oil companies in India.
A Chemical Engineer by qualification, Mr. Gaitonde is a technologist who has made his mark by specializing in R&D and production operations. As Retort’s Director for
Operations, he is responsible for directing production activities through effective planning & execution and also managing all the units under the Retort Group.
He is also a key member of local chemical manufacturer’s association known as TIMA and is the Managing Director of Common Effluent Treatment Plant at Tarapur Zone.
It is through his adept guidance, that Retort Group is working within the parameters of safety and ecology in the area of manufacturing operations. An affable person,
Mr. Gaitonde has a history of cordiality with all and sundry that comes into contact
with him, which has enabled the company’s smooth growth.

Retort has 2 manufacturing operations located in close proximity to each other at the
Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) Tarapur a prominent industrial estate, 100kms from Mumbai City.
Plant 1 is of 2500 sq.mtrs and Plant 2 is of 10000 sq.mtrs area.

Retort is well equipped with a full-fledged laboratory having various modern testing facilities pertaining to products such as Gas Chromatography, HPLC,
 Karlficher, UV / VIS Spectrophotometer, High Performance Liquid
Chromotograph (HPLC), Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer & Color matching, Gas Chromotographer.
 Qualified persons, who maintain & upgrade regular testing records, equipment calibration records as per the International Standards for Quality.
 The company has its own R&D department backed with the qualification, experience and capabilities of the promoters, as all of them are technocrats themselves.
 All operating systems are asper ISO-9001 -2000 quality certification and are approved by British standards Institution.

Environment

Production activities are supported by full-fledged common effluent treatment plant consisting of necessary treatments suggested by our R&D department.
 Solid waste and liquid waste are treated separately.
 The treated effluent is disposed off through a common effluent treatment plant (CETP), which is managed by TIMA.
 Maintaining good housekeeping norms and renewing & implementing
Standard Operating Procedures to compliment our effluent treatment systems.
 The R&D laboratory regularly upgrades technology to minimize waste and thereby resulting in optimization of resources and maintaining excellent social relations with the localities.
Health
Retort believes that efficiency is the output of overall fitness and well being.

Quarterly medical inspections and certifications done for every single person in the company.

Proper onsite medical facilities & first aid arrangements are provided during minor emergencies, which are promptly checked and taken care by the management themselves.

Safety
Retort’s management considers accident prevention as of greater importance than any other phase of operation or administration. Due to sincere efforts the accident record book has been clean since commencement of operations.
