All classes open to registered pure, part-bred/over height Connemara ponies, where applicable.
Each ridden class will be judged with separate rosettes for pure bred and part-bred/over height Connemara ponies,
where applicable. If numbers are sufficient on the day pure and part-bred/over height classes will be split.
Please note, part-bred and over height competitors are required in all ridden sections to wear a white
armband.
National Pony Society Scotland Qualifiers 2015 for NPS Scotland Championship Finals to be held at Blair Castle
International Horse Trials on Friday 11th September 2015.
BCPS competitors can enter the E.F.R.A Dressage classes which are also qualifiers for the BCPS
Dressage Finals at this show, with schedules available at www.ettrickforest.co.uk, however we cannot
be held responsible for classes overlapping as this is run as a separate show.

Rules and Regulations
All ponies must be registered by the date of the show in the appropriate section of the BCPS Stud Book or Register, in the Stud
Book of an Approved Connemara Society or in the Part-Bred Register where applicable.
A copy of the BCPS Showing Rules is available on the BCPS website, www.britishconnemaras.co.uk.
It is the responsibility of Exhibitors to enter ponies correctly in the appropriate class. Neither the organisers of this event nor the
BCPS nor any agent or representative thereof accept any liability for any accident, damage, injury or illness or any loss of any
kind whether financial or otherwise suffered by any horse, pony, owner, rider, spectator, land building, person, animal or any
other property of any type whether caused by negligence, breach of trust, or in any way whatsoever.
It is a condition of entry that all exhibitors shall, to the extent allowed by law, indemnify this Show and Officials, Servants and
Assistants against all actions, proceeding, claims or otherwise in relation to or arising from his/her entries in this show, and each
entry form must be signed as having accepted these conditions.
The organisers reserve the right to cancel, amalgamate or divide classes as and when necessary. They also reserve the right to
refuse an entry without assigning any reasons.
Objections
Any person wishing to lodge a protest with reference to any person or exhibit shall do so in writing within 30 minutes of the
termination of the class, and at the same time shall deposit a sum of £30.00. If on investigation by the organisers the protest is
not sustained the deposit shall be forfeited.
Classes - The Committee reserves the right to divide, cancel or amalgamate any class where deemed necessary.
Soundness
All ponies must be sound. If, in the opinion of the Judge, a pony is considered to be unsound, the Exhibitor will be given the
option of withdrawing the exhibit from the class or asking that an Official Veterinary Surgeon examine the pony. If no Veterinary
Surgeon is available, the Judge’s decision is final.
Broodmares
Must be free of hereditary diseases. All in-milk mares must be shown with the foal at foot and no foal is to be exhibited under
five weeks of age.
Disease
Any animal found suffering from a contagious or infectious disease is to be removed from the Showground immediately at the
request of an Veterinary Surgeon.
Dope Test
The Committee reserves the right to have any animal tested.
Control
Any pony not under control MUST be removed from the Showground immediately when so requested by an Official.
Substitution
No nominations entries will be accepted and no substitution of ponies will be allowed.

NPS Scotland Qualifier Rules









Ponies may only qualify once for each NPS Scotland Competition Final.
All Mountain & Moorland Ponies must be registered in the main body of their respective stud book. Part breds and X
registered ponies and Eriskays are not eligible.
Qualification in the M. & M In Hand Section may go to 3rd in the Championship. All others may go to no lower than 6th place.
A Judge is not obliged to award an NPS Scotland Finals qualification if he/she feels that the pony is not of a
sufficient standard
Closing date for entries to NPS Scotland Finals
Shows after 8th June 2015 adhere to a closing date of 26th August 2015 and Late Entries will not be accepted
Open to pure bred registered M & M stallions, mares and geldings four years old and over.
A pony is not eligible to compete if, before 1st January in the current year, it has done any of the following:
i) Won an open NPS affiliated mixed M&M Ridden class
ii) Won a direct qualifying round for HOYS,RIHS or Olympia
iii)If a pony qualifies for any of the above in the current year it is immediately de-noviced and cannot enter the final either at
the NPS Summer Championships or the NPS Scotland/Kilmannan Novice Final at NPS Scotland Championships Final (Blair)
iv) Qualified for Horse of the Year Show or RIHS Ridden classes
v) Qualified for the M&M Novice or Intermediate Ridden final at the NPS Summer Championship show and the NPS Scotland/
Kilmannan Novice Final at NPS Scotland Championship Finals (Blair) (N.B. Ponies can compete as novices in this competition
for two consecutive years provided they do not submit an entry to the final in the first year).
vi) Qualified for the M&M Ridden Championship final at Olympia in previous years
Ponies must be shown in a snaffle bit.
Entry for the Finals can only be made by sending the official card duly signed by the Judge at the time of qualifying with your
entry form.
The OWNER must be or become a member of NPS Scotland before entering the Finals.
The Final will take place at the Blair Castle International Horse Trials on Friday 11th September 2015.

Class 1 Nursery Novice WHP. For ponies in their first year of competing in WHP classes and who have not won a novice WHP
class as at 1st January in the current year. To be shown in a suitable snaffle bridle. Maximum height of fences 2ft.
Class 2 Novice WHP. For ponies that have never to have been placed in any Intermediate or Open WHP class as at 1st January
in the current year. To be shown in a suitable snaffle bridle. Maximum height of fences 2ft 3ins.
Class 3 Intermediate WHP For ponies that have never been placed in any Open Working Hunter Pony Class as at 1st January in
the current year. Maximum height of fences 2ft 6ins
Class 4 Open WHP. Maximum height of fences 3ft 3ins. Qualifier for NPS Scotland/Kingfisher Building Products
Mountain & Moorland Open WHP Championship. The 3 highest placed ponies, from this class not already qualified, will
qualify for the Final which will take place at the Blair Castle International Horse Trials on Friday 11th September 2015.
Qualifications to go no lower than 6th place
Pure Bred Championship. 1st and 2nd prize winners from classes 1, 2, 3 & 4 are to compete for The
Brydie Cup
Part Bred/Over height Championship 1st and 2nd prize winners from classes 1, 2, 3 & 4 are eligible for part
bred/over height WHP championship.

Class 5 Performance Pony Qualifying Class. Open to pure-bred and part-bred/over height registered Connemara Stallion,
Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over.
Section 1 Pure/ Part-Bred and Over Height Connemaras
11.00am-12.00pm
Rules for Section 1 A snaffle bridle must be worn. To be judged as a performance class and not as a show class. A rider may
ride more than one pony in each class. Previous winners may compete. Rider And Horse/Pony combination not to have
competed at any BE80/90 level or above or won 1st – 3rd in any qualifying WHP class. Ponies enter the ring and perform
a show that must include a walk, working trot, canter on both reins and finish with a halt of 3 seconds. The show must not exceed
2 minutes. Immediately after the show a 2’3” course of 5/6 jumps will be jumped. Marking as follows: Style on the flat 25
marks, Jumping style 25 marks, Overall impression 50 marks. Marks to be deducted a) jump knocked down -10 b) 1st refusal -10
2nd refusal – 20 c) 3rd refusal -elimination. If entered in Section 1 the same combination may not enter Section 2
Section 2 Pure/Part Bred and Over Height Connemaras

jumps will be jumped. Marking as follows: Style on the flat 25 marks, Jumping style 25 marks, Overall impression 50 marks.

The three highest placed ponies/horse from each section not already qualified will qualify for the final to be held at the Ridden

Pure Bred Qualifier for NPS Scotland/Baileys Horse Feeds Open Ridden Mountain & Moorland Championship. The 2
highest placed Pure Bred ponies, from class 6 not already qualified will qualify for the Final which will take place at the Blair Castle
International Horse Trials on Friday 11th September 2015. Qualifications to go no lower than 6th place
Class 7 Intermediate Ridden Pure Bred and Part Bred/Over height
A pony shall not be eligible to compete if has qualified before the 1 st January of the current year for the M&M Ridden Championship Final at
Horse of the Year Show/Olympia/RIHS
Pure Bred Ridden Championship 1st and 2nd pure bred prize winners from classes 6 and 7 are eligible for pure bred ridden
championship.
Part Bred/Over Height Ridden Championship 1st and 2nd part bred/over height prize winners from classes 6 and 7 are eligible
for part bred/over height ridden championship
Competitors entered in classes 6 & 7 may not enter classes 8 or 9

highest placed Pure Bred ponies, not already qualified, from class 9 will qualify for the Final which will take place at the Blair

Pure Bred Novice Ridden Championship 1st and 2nd pure bred prize winners from classes 8 and 9 are eligible for pure bred

Showground, Malvern.

NPS Scotland Qualifier
The champion young stock will qualify for the NPS Scotland/ Scottish Farmer-Scottish Horse In Hand Mountain &
Moorland Championship Final which will take place at the Blair Castle International Horse Trials on Friday 11th September
2015. Qualification may go to 3rd in the Championship (i.e. 1st Reserve Champion)
Part-bred/over height in hand section
After Championship in ring 2
Class 13 Part-bred/Over- Height filly or gelding 3 years and under.
Class 14 Part-bred/Over- Height, four years old and over.
Part Bred/Over Height Championship 1st and 2nd prize winners from classes 13 and 14 are eligible.
Pure Bred In Hand Mature
Class 15 Stallion, Barren Mare or Gelding, four years old and over
Class 16 Mare with foal at foot or due to foal(covering certificate required).
Class 17 Foals (no entry fee) but please enter on entry form and state age. The minimum age for showing foals is five weeks
old.
