

Derivation of species-specific forest phenology for major tree species and herbaceous
plants in eight protected wildlife national parks in Madhya Pradesh using regular digital
photographs and high-resolution satellite data.
Influence local weather parameters on different phenological events of tree species and
herbaceous plants.
Leaf Area Index (LAI)


Retrieval of Leaf Area Index (LAI) using hemispherical photographs and High spatiotemporal satellite data.
Validation of Global LAI product (MODIS) using hemispherical photographs based
LAI in moist deciduous forest of Kanha National Park in Central India.
Aboveground Biomass (AGB)

Assessment of aboveground biomass for tree species and grasslands in eight protected
national parks in Madhya Pradesh using ground based measurements and satellite data.


Assessment of state-wise forest biomass in India using GLASS LiDAR based forest
biomass estimation for tropical forest (Saatchi et al., 2011).
Comparison of state-wise LiDAR based forest biomass estimates with earlier
assessment by Chhabra et al. (2002).
Terrestrial Net Primary Productivity (NPP)






Development of scheme for estimation of Net Primary Productivity (NPP) in India
using INSAT 3A CCD data and meteorological data.
Modified the CASA ecosystem model for regional/global NPP estimation
Validation of CASA derived global NPP using Eddy covariance data (134 towers) and
field NPP (>3500 points) over 26 countries in nine landcover types.
Influence of local climatic factors on trend and variability of NPP at regional/global
