A NEW COURSE FROM THE COLLEGE OF PRACTICAL HOMEOPATHY provided
by Julia Linfoot BSc RSHom
INTRODUCTION TO HOMEOPATHY
12 week evening class on Mondays 7.00pm – 9.30pm from 12th January 2009
This course is for you if :
* you are interested in natural health and would like to understand how the various forms of
complementary health relate to each other and to conventional healthcare
* you would like to learn how to use Homeopathy confidently and effectively to treat your family and
friends for a wide range of illnesses and injuries
* you would like to pursue an interest in complementary health care, possibly leading to a professional
training and future career in Homeopathy (optional!)
* NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY
The course will cover :
* an overview of the differences between mainstream and complementary medicine
* the history and principles of Homeopathy including how the remedies are made and how they work
* how to treat many common complaints using Homeopathy, including those requested by students
* the therapeutic uses of around 50 homeopathic remedies, flower essences and herbs

The College of Practical Homeopathy has been training high quality professional Homeopaths
for 25 years. It runs full and part-time professional courses as well as a new distance learning course.
Their courses are recognised by the Society of Homeopaths.
The course tutor :
Julia Linfoot BSc RSHom graduated from the College of Practical Homeopathy in 1999, since
when she has run her own practice in South London. She has been teaching workshops and
introductory courses since 2001. She supervises students and marks assignments for the college. Her
teaching methods are practical, enjoyable and tuned to the individual needs of all course participants.
The venue: The course will be taught at Bellenden Therapies, 147a Bellenden Road, London,
SE15. This is a small and friendly complementary health practice 5 minutes walk from Peckham Rye
railway station, which has frequent connections to Victoria and London Bridge. Local free parking.
The course fees are £360, and this includes a set of comprehensive handouts. A deposit
of £60 secures a place. The class size will be no more than 6 participants.

The Philosophy of Health & Disease
What health is and what factors affect it.
What disease is and what purpose it serves.
Infectious disease : understanding susceptibility – alternatives to killing germs.
The 5 principles of common sense medicine (common sense is not that common!)
Brief History of Energy Medicine, and the origins of Homeopathy.
Energy medicine : meridians, chakras and elements. Homeopathy as energy medicine.
The differences between ‘conventional’ and ‘alternative’ schools of thought.
Theory & Basic Principles of Homeopathy
Samuel Hahnemann, the father of Homeopathy, The Organon & The Law of Similars.
How Homeopathic Remedies are made and how they work.
New Science – the memory of water, and the work of Dr Emoto.
The concepts of the Vital Force, and Potency. The Laws of Cure.
Overview of the different Methodologies of Homeopathy (organ support & drainage,
detoxing drugs, acute therapeutics, constitutional prescribing, and addressing inherited
weaknesses.)
How To Do It!
Lots of practical work using real ‘cases’ to learn:
*Casetaking & case analysis.
*Understanding what you can and can’t do, and referring to other professionals.
*Using the Repertory and the Materia Medica.
*Choosing a remedy, and prescribing.
How to interpret remedy reaction and what to do next.
Getting the support you need while starting to use Homeopathy.
Therapeutics
The main remedies to treat: Injuries, burns, basic first aid. Coughs, colds, flu. Throat &
ear infections. Emotional first aid. Digestive complaints. Menstrual problems. Babies’
complaints : colic, teething etc. Other conditions requested by students, if time allows.
Materia Medica
The leading symptoms of commonly used remedies : Aconite, Arsenicum, Belladonna,
Chamomilla, Calc.carb, Causticum, Gelsemium, Hep.Sulph, Ignatia, Lachesis,
Lycopodium, Mercury, Nat.Mur, Nux.Vom, Phosphorus, Sepia, Staphisagria, Sulphur.
