INDUSTRIAL TRAINING INSTITUTE (ITI)S OFFERING CERTIFICATE LEVEL COURSES
Department of Training & Technical Education Delhi offers formal vocational training leading to issue of
Trade Certificate or Diploma by Board of Technical Education, through 16 ITIs under its control. To encourage the
enrolment of girl students, there are 4 Govt. ITIs exclusively for women, 9 coeducational ITIs have Special Wing
for girl students and 25% seats for all coeducational ITIs are reserved for girls. Entry level in ITIs varies from a
minimum eligibility of 8th pass to 12th pass. Admission to the ITI is based on the merit in qualifying exam.


(I) Eligibility for admission 8th pass (7th class where Terminal exam is 7th class)
(a) Courses with 2 years Duration: Painter & Wireman.
(b) Courses with 1 year duration: Carpenter, Cutting & Sewing, Embroidery & Needlework, Foundry Man

(II) Eligibility 8th + ITI Certificate, National Trade Certificate (NTC) in cutting & Sewing Dress Designing, Fashion

CONTINUING EDUCATION
For employed persons, provision of part time evening classes exists at Delhi College of Engineering for Degree
Engineering Courses and in three Government Polytechnics for Diploma engineering courses. Diploma holders can get
admission in the second year of Degree Engineering programmes at I. P. University affiliated colleges through Lateral
Entry.

APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING SCHEME
Admission under the above training scheme is conducted in February / March and in August /September every
year. The apprentices are paid stipend under Apprenticeship Act.
(H)
NON-FORMAL TRAINING: -
These are conducted in various polytechnics under the Community Polytechnic Scheme; Schemes for Persons
With Disability, Swaran Jayanti Shahari Rojgar Yojana and for college and school drop outs identified by the Industries
Department.
Besides the above non formal training facilities available in the Polytechnics, a number of different skill oriented
short -term courses are available at both polytechnics as well as ITIs. Some of the courses run at the ITIs are exclusively
for women.
Industrial Training Institutes also conduct evening classes for industrial workers and conduct trade test for private
candidates.
There are special coaching cum guidance facility for SC/ST candidates available at ITI Nandnagari.
II.
EVALUATION & CERTIFICATION

III.
PROVIDING TECHNICAL MANPOWER TO THE PROSPECTIVE EMPLOYERS
Facility for conducting Campus interviews exists both at the Directorate level as well as the Institute level. Interested
employers may contact the respective Institutes or the Assistant Director (Training & Placement) at 27327771.
