The Village of Freeville is changing its trash collection servicer

advertisement
The Village of Freeville is changing its trash-collection provider
from Casella Waste Systems (CWS) to Alternative Waste Services (AWS).
When will the change happen?
CWS will pick up for the last time on Saturday, October 25, and AWS will begin regular Thursday
pick-ups on October 30. Trash should be put out on Wednesday nights.
Will AWS accept CWS trash tags?
No. Only AWS tags can be used after October 25. However, unused CWS tags (whole sheets,
partial sheets, or single tags) can be exchanged for AWS tags at the Village Hall (the only place
where you can exchange them) at the following times:
 During regular hours, starting October 6 (Mon., Wed., Fri., 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.)
 Extra times:
Wednesday, October 22, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday, October 25, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Wednesday, October 29, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Note: The last day to turn in unused CWS tags is Monday, December 1.
How much will the new tags cost?
They will be sold at the same price as the old ones: $10.00 for a sheet of 12 tags. They can also be
purchased by mail: Checks written to the Village of Freeville should be sent to 5 Factory St., P.O.
Box 288, along with a stamped return envelope.
If I need one or two CWS tags to tide me over until the new service starts, can I "mix
and match" when I purchase new tags?
Yes! If, for example, you need one more CWS tag, you can buy one old tag along with 11 new
ones for the regular full-sheet price of $10.00.
Will I be able to buy AWS tags at other locations as well?
Yes! You can buy AWS tags at the following locations: Tops (downtown), Wegmans, Lansing
Market, East Hill Plaza P&C and Dolce Delight. Please note that these stores charge from $11.00
to $11.50 for a sheet of tags, in part because they must pay tax when purchasing them from AWS.
Tags can also be purchased from AWS drivers on pick-up days.
If I experience any problems with my trash pick-up under the new service, can I contact
AWS directly?
Yes! AWS wants to provide the best possible service to its customers and will be happy to
address any questions or concerns you have. Please talk to Ashley or Missy in the AWS office in
Newfield at 564-7717 (Mon. - Fri., 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), or ask to speak to owner Bob Mente.
Questions and concerns can of course also be directed to our Village Clerk, Ron Campbell, at
844-8301 or freevilleclerk@frontiernet.net.
Will the recycling pick-up schedule be affected by this change?
No. Recycling is handled by Tompkins County, which is responsible for choosing the company
that does the pick-ups. CWS will continue its regular Freeville schedule of alternate Fridays.
