Prom is on May 21st at the Skirball Cultural Center. The theme is “A Midnight Escape.”
Early bird tickets on Sale, Tuesday, April 26 th until Friday, April 29th. Nominate your seniors
from Tuesday April 26th until Thursday April 28th for Prom King and Queen. Seniors, send in
pictures of you and your friends to be a part of a prom memory. Look for a flyer or go to the
student bank for more details. ~Ms. Miller
10th ANNUAL XANADU FILM FESTIVAL - Friday, April 29th from 5-10pm
Tickets are on sale now from any film club member and in room C207. Come to Alhambra High's
auditorium to see your classmates' and other local high schoolers' best student films on the BIG
SCREEN! Tickets are $3 presale ($2 ASB) or $5 at the door. Come and find out if Keppel can
take the award for best feature AGAIN this year!!!

Attention AP Bio Students: in addition to the study sessions being offered next week, there will
be five more review sessions this week from 3:00 to 4:30 PM in B120. Monday's focus will be
animal physiology and transport in plants. Tuesday DNA/RNA and biotechnology. Wednesday,
Cell Respiration and Photosynthesis, & Enzymes. Thursday, Immune system, homeostasis,
osmoregulation. Friday, Sensory and motor systems.
Study sessions will be open to both classes and AP Bio students taking the AP test independently.

We are now fine tuning all SFD stuff and so we have a mandatory meeting on Tuesday 4/26, at lunch in room B116. We will
be going over all the tasks and assignments for May 14 Science Field Day.

SOME ENCHANTED EVENING
For the sixth year in a row, Mark Keppel Band & Orchestra will present a spring benefit concert in the lovely Barnes Park
Amphitheatre. Come join us for lively music from Broadway musicals and popular video games on Saturday, April 30, 6:30
pm. Tickets available from any Band or Orchestra member. ~Dr. Bartlett
East Los Angeles College (ELAC) will be in the Career Center on Tuesday, April 26 during 1st period. Come
and get up-to-date info on the application and registration process. Go to the Career Center now to sign up for the

Repetto Elementary PTA Scholarship is offering a scholarship to a graduating seniors who graduated from Repetto
Elementary School. Criteria: Students must possess a minimum GPA of 3.0. Requirements: one-page educational goals
essay, copy of senior activity sheet, copy of transcript (unofficial). Please pick up an application in the Career Center.
Deadline: Wednesday, April 27, 2011 by 3pm in the Career Center. Return completed application package back to Mrs.
Marquez in the Career Center.

MKHS Alumni Association Cinke Art Scholarship is NOW available! Eligibility: minimum 2.85 GPA, two years
of art class at Mark Keppel High School and verification of enrollment at a college or university for the 2011 year. NOTE: An
electronic version of all documents and artwork (scanned documents/digital photography of artwork) must accompany the
original application. Electronic files in Word, Adobe (.pdf) and .jpg format are preferred. Deadline: All application
materials must be submitted to the Mark Keppel High School Career Center no later than May 1, 2011

Mark Keppel High School PTSA is offering 2 different scholarships. The PTSA Vocational Scholarship: criteria:
2.3 GPA or higher, record of good citizenship, participate in school activities, intent to attend a 2-year college, trade school or
business school. PTSA Academic Scholarship: criteria: 3.0 GPA or higher, record of good citizenship, participate in school
activities, intent to attend a 4-year college or university. Applicant must be a current member of Mark Keppel P.T.S.A.
Deadline: May 2, 2011 by 3:00pm

Alhambra Council Parent Teacher Association scholarship Applicant must be planning to go into the field of
Child Development (Teacher, Pediatrician, Social Worker, Child Psychology or any other as it relates to education). Applicant
must be entering a two-or four-year college or university. Please pick up an application in the Career Center. Return completed
application package back to Mrs. Marquez in the Career Center. Deadline: May 5, 2011 by 3:00pm

Alhambra Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the annual High School Scholarship. Eligibility: 3.0 GPA or
better, proof of acceptance & enrollment to an accredited four-year institution with a course load of 12 units. Applicant’s
career goal should be in the area of business or related study. Please pick up an application in the Career Center. Please return
completed application back to Mrs. Marquez in the Career Center. Deadline: Friday, May 6, 2011 by 3:00pm
Alhambra Teachers Association (ATA) is offering a $200 scholarship to a graduating senior planning to enter the field of
teaching. Applicants are asked to submit their senior activity sheet, an unofficial transcript and a one-page personal essay
describing goals as a future educator. Please pick up an application in the Career Center. Return completed application
package back to the Career Center. Deadline: Thursday, May 12, 2011 by 3:00 pm
Civil Service Employees Insurance Company ‘s Youth Automobile Safety Scholarship Program Applicant must be a
graduating high school senior and California resident, 3.0 GPA minimum, have been accepted to an accredited two- or fouryear college/university or trade school, the applicant’s parent or legal guardian must be currently employed full- time by or if
retired or deceased, must have been employed full-time by a government entity. This definition of public employee includes,
but is not limited to, peace officers; firefighters; educators; postal employees; military personnel; and federal, state and local
government workers. (CSE employees, employees’ relatives, and its agents and vendors are not eligible). Please pick up the

Hillcrest PTA scholarship is offering two scholarships, each in the amount of $400. Prerequisites for application:
You must 1) be a graduate of Hillcrest School; 2) be a member of the 2011 graduating class; 3) plan to attend a 2 or 4-year
college, university, or trade school in the fall of 2011. Deadline: Friday, May 20, 2011 by 3 p.m. to Mrs. Marquez in the
