SUMMARY:
The ways that you dress and introduce yourself to the world reveal the fashion
of each period of time in the history of mankind. It is in this perspective – of a
fashion about ‘the way each and everyone is dressed’, which goes beyond the
famous dressmakers’ and artists’ universe – that the teacher of history of art
Kátia Canton wrote this book, printed based on a completely hand-made
manuscript by the illustrator Luciana Schiller. Besides the historical perspective
– conducting us from the pre-history to the court of Louis XIV and from the
haute couture precursors in the 19th century to the modern stylist Jean Paul
Gaultier -, the book integrates to its narrative the universes of art and shows
and reveals the curiosities that involve the creation of famous models and
accessories.
SUGGESTED ACTIVITIES:
Get your friends together and prepare an imagined fashion show. Each one
takes pieces of clothes from their wardrobe and makes creative and instigated
visuals. Do not forget the music and, if possible, make a scenario for it.

This book teaches us the first steps to practice yoga, not letting aside some of
its origin. To this purpose, it shows a far-reaching approach the ways how to
breathe, how to position yourself and how to relax. For the children, the yoga
will certainly be as fun as playing soccer or running. With the difference that
yoga is a moment of concentration and self-knowledge: an invitation to the
body expression and experimentation. The reader will follow set by step the
children positions, photographed by Tadeu Jungle. The book also rescues
elements of the Hindu culture, in its graphic Project and in its language. The
positions names are explained with their correspondent Sanskrit words and, at
the end, the reader can say a peace mantra in that language. This is a book to
transform the body into a living poem. As the yogue Lygia Lima writes on the
cover of the book, “I invite you to open this present. Do not think twice”.
SUGGESTED ACTIVITIES:
Begin with the pronunciation of positions in the Sanskrit language and evolve
to the relaxation and concentration exercises and, finally, to the positions.
