Culture Vocabulary
1. culture – the beliefs, customs, practices, and behaviors of a particular nation or group of people
2. cultural trait – an idea or way of doing things that is common in a certain culture
3. norm – a behavior that is considered normal in a particular society
4. society – a group of humans with a shared culture who have organized themselves to meet their basic needs
5. family – two or more people who are closely related by birth, marriage, or adoption
6. nuclear family – a family that consists of parents and their children
7. extended family – a family that includes parents, children, and other family members, such as grandparents,
aunts, uncles, and cousins.
8. social structure – a pattern of organized relationships among groups of people within a society
9. social class – a group of people living in similar economic conditions
10. language – a set of spoken sounds, written symbols, or hand gestures that make it possible for people to
communicate
