Vacancy: 2. Brief description of main responsibilities: Translation of documents from English and other official languages of the EU into Maltese. 3. Duties: 4. Qualifications and skills: 1 Translating, within the time limits laid down, documents that are often complex, covering all the spheres of activity of the European Union, into Maltese from at least two other official languages of the EU, including English; Ensuring a high level of quality (complete, precise and linguistically correct translation preserving the meaning, essence and aim of the original document); Revise, control and evaluate translations carried out by colleagues or external agencies; Carrying out terminology research, in particular by using the various documentary and terminology databases available and contributing to the terminology work of the Unit and of the Directorate for Translation; Taking part in other cross-sector tasks (training activities, development of IT tools, etc.). Established official or successful candidate in a competition of the European public service for a suitable grade; Under the Cooperation Agreement between the Committee of the Regions and the Economic and Social Committee, these two Committees have Joint Services. .../... EN -2 5. Perfect knowledge of Maltese (maternal language or equivalent); Very good knowledge of at least two other official EU languages, amongst which English. Knowledge of French and/or German will be highly appreciated. Willingness to learn one or more of the other official languages of the EU is required; Good knowledge of current IT applications (Microsoft Office, Word and TWB); Ability to work in a team and adapt to an international working environment; Experience in translation would be an asset; Experience in the field of terminology database management would be appreciated; Experience in quality assessment would be an asset.
