Burton Ambassadors advert Are you outgoing? Do you have an interest in art and local heritage? Do you enjoy helping people? If so – the Burton Art Gallery and Museum is looking for volunteers to become Burton Ambassadors and you might be the right person! Hours are likely to be Monday – Sunday between 10am – 4pm in 2 hour time slots, and during holiday periods although a degree of flexibility is welcomed. As a volunteer your role will include; welcoming visitors to the Burton and to particular exhibitions, answering questions about exhibitions and the Burton’s collections, and generally supporting our audiences to have a fantastic visitor experience whilst in the building. You may also undertake some informal monitoring activities so that feedback on the Burton can be collated and incorporated into future programme. Full training and support will be provided. We are particularly looking for Burton ambassadors to support the forthcoming Batoni exhibition from 10th November – 23rd December. Pompeo Batoni is one of the most celebrated portrait painters of his time and the exhibition includes a portrait of John Rolle Walter, who was Lord of the Manor of Torrington in the late 1700’s. We’d really like to hear from reliable, friendly and enthusiastic people, with good communication skills, a passion for learning and a willingness to welcome and engage with audiences. Experience of customer service or public speaking is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.
