The Scholarship Pageant will be held in two parts on two different days.
Preliminaries

The preliminary round will consist of an informal interview with a panel of judges and an on
camera question(s). Contestants will be judged on their: Speech & Communication, Poise &
Confidence, Personality & On Camera Composure
Contestants will be notified of the results of the preliminary competition the following day.
Following the selection of the final three contestants a member of the Contest Committee will
contact the finalists to inform them about final event information.
Appropriate interview dress should be limited to casual business attire, which would include
skirt and blouse combinations, and suits. The following guidelines should be followed:
 Nylons at all times
 Moderate necklines
 Sleeves
 Appropriate undergarments
 Dress shoes with heels
 Jewelry that compliments the outfit
 Simple, well groomed hair styles
 Make-up at all times

The Kiwanis Club will supply the three finalists with tickets for the contestant plus two tickets
for their family at no cost. Additional tickets may be purchased from the Kiwanis at a cost of
$35.00/ticket. All proceeds go to Kiwanis scholarships.
The audience will make final selection the night of the Scholarship Fundraiser. The final three
contestants will be asked to answer one question each and model their Western Outfits.
Results will be announced that evening.

Kiwanis Miss 4th of July Scholarship Pageant
Pageant Information & Qualifications for Entry
The Miss 4th of July Scholarship Pageant is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Hacienda Heights to
honor outstanding young ladies within the community with a scholarship award. Scholarships will be
awarded to the winner as well as 1st Runner up and 2nd Runner up.
The following rules apply to all contestants without exception. Contestants must:

reside within the borders of the Hacienda La Puente Unified School District but may attend
private school or a school outside the district.

be students in good standing at their school.

be a high school junior or graduating senior in June.

must be single, never married.

agree, if selected as the winner with the title “Miss 4th of July” to be available during the
months leading up to the 4th of July to attend periodic civic/community events within the local
area.

agree to be prompt to all competition events.

agree to provide their own clothes for the competition and appearances.

agree to provide transportation to and from each competition event or appearance.

agree to abide by the rules designated by the Contest Committee now in effect or announced
thereafter

agree that the time, manner and method of judging shall be solely within the discretion of the
Contest Committee.

Failure to meet all qualifications and requirements may result in disqualification.
In consideration of being permitted to participate in the “Miss 4th of July competition, the
parents or legal guardians do hereby release the Kiwanis Club of Hacienda Heights and the
Contest Committee as well as its agents from any and all liability, claims, demands, and/or
actions for any and all damage or injury which may occur as a result of my child’s participation
in said activity, and at any scheduled components associated with this activity.
