End-of-life plastics: A resource to be yet exploited
IdentiPlast 2010: recycling and recovery technologies
for plastics
This year’s IdentiPlast conference will bring together top-level waste management
policy and technical experts, government officials, NGOs and industry leaders to
discuss how the optimum use of end-of-life plastics can be ensured and nurtured. The
conference, to be held in London on 9-10 November 2010, will explore the role of
business, users and policymakers in ensuring a cradle to cradle cycle for plastics.
Journalists are invited to attend the meeting to hear high-profile speakers outline and debate on
the role of plastics in future European strategies on resources, energy and waste; latest
technologies for separating, sorting and processing waste plastics and challenges of plastics
recovery faced by the new EU Member States.
A central theme will be the implementation of EU policies. Even two years after the adoption of
the European Waste Framework Directive, for example, governments are still facing the
challenges of implementation. Equality, Energy-from-Waste plants still fight the NIMBY
syndrome in their communities.
About the event
Since 1997, PlasticsEurope and its partners from the international plastics value chain, have
organised IdentiPlast. The Conference is recognised as a key event in the world of plastics and
provides a forum for experts to deliver leading-edge presentations on plastic waste
management.
Key presentations will be given from The European Commission, SABIC, EPRO, Axion
Recycling and the city of Ameland, The Netherlands.
Other highlights include the participation of MEP Jill Evans, Stéphane Arditi, EEB and Paul
Augustowski, President and CEO of Basell Orlen Polyolefins in a panel discussion on How do
we turn used plastics into a valued resource?
Editors’ note
PlasticsEurope is one of the leading European trade associations with centres in Brussels, Frankfurt, London, Madrid, Milan and Paris. We are networking with
European and national plastics associations and have more than 100 member companies, producing over 90% of all polymers across the EU27 member states
plus Norway, Switzerland, Croatia and Turkey.
The European plastics industry makes a significant contribution to the welfare in Europe by enabling innovation, creating quality of life to citizens and facilitating
resource efficiency and climate protection. More than 1.6 million people are working in about 50.000 companies (mainly small and medium sized companies in
the converting sector) to create a turnover in excess of 300 billion € per year.
The plastics industry includes polymer producers - represented by PlasticsEurope, converters - represented by EuPC and machine manufacturers - represented
by EUROMAP. For further info see the web links: www.plasticseurope.org, www.plasticsconverters.eu, www.euromap.org.
