Research shows that 60% of people who make resolutions have broken them within three months. Yet, this means that 40% of the people keep them! Imagine what would happen if staff and students made and kept the same resolutions for 2008: 1) Daily attendance, 2) Punctuality, 3) Participation, 4) Positive attitude and outlook, and 5) Focus on learning. Facilities Request :Please remember that a permit is needed two weeks before any event, in which school facilities are used outside of the student’s day. Senior Project Deadlines: First 3 journals are due on 1/28/08, first draft of research paper is due 2/11/08, and a total of 6 journal entries are due 3/10/08. Mock Trial: Participants are expected to meet every Tuesday and Friday @ 12:50 in room 103. The JSA Debate Club meets every Thursday at 12:50 in room 103; all interested students may attend. (Ms. Wolfe) CAHSEE: Here is an analysis of 10th grade ’06-’07 CAHSEE proficiency rates in English Language Arts. What does this analysis, and the concomitant chart say to you? Next week you will receive the math results Analysis of 10th Grade CAHSEE Proficiency Rates 06-07 English Language Arts: At Oakland High, 38% of all students classified as 10th Graders in 06-07 scored Proficient on the ELA CAHSEE. However, only 25% of the African American subgroup and 24% of the Latino subgroup scored Proficient. The school overall and AA and Hispanic subgroups met the 06-07 AYP target of 22.4% for ELA. The chart below shows the relationship between the Proficiency Rates of last year’s 10th graders and their prior year’s CST scores. Schoolwide: 34% scored Proficient + on their ELA CST the year before (BASIC+ on the Grade 10 CST) versus a CAHSEE Proficiency Rate of 38%. African American: 20% scored Proficient + on their ELA CST the year before (BASIC+ on the Grade 10 CST) versus a 25% CAHSEE Proficiency Rate. Hispanic: 24% scored Proficient + on their ELA CST the year before (BASIC+ on the Grade 10 CST) versus a 24% CAHSEE Proficiency Rate.
