As we shortly be moving into the sixth month. Our last meeting was very informative with Margaret, Bob and Keith from the Hamilton computing group sharing their knowledge and expertise with the branch at the Te Awamutu Primary School computer suite. Fifteen members attended and I am sure learnt something new. For your information the websites mentioned at printed at the back of this newsletter. ☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼ Family History week 21 – 28 September 2007 Calling for ideas to mark the occasion? Last year we had a couple of static displays in the National Bank and Paper Plus windows. If anyone has an idea and is willing to co-ordinate it, the committee is keen to hear from you. ☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼ Te Awamutu Branch NZSG # 173 – June 2007 Disclaimer: All efforts are made to ensure the information published is accurate Page: 1 WHAT’S HAPPENING AROUND & ABOUT Morning Group: A reminded that these are held on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, Time 9.30 - 12 30 at 228 Longs Rd. An earlier discussion had led to an argument and neither of them wanted to concede their position. As they passed a barnyard of mules, goats, and pigs, the husband asked sarcastically, "Relatives of yours?" "Yep," the wife replied, "in-laws. ☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼ REAL LIFE TALES WAITING TO BE UNVEILED: The Taupo community is home to many unique real-life stories that are waiting to be unveiled in an exclusive and collectable series. The Friends of the Museum, in conjunction with Time of Your Life, a service which records life stories, has plans to publish a series of books based on the lives of extraordinary people living in the community. Many Taupo residents have valuable personal accounts relating to local, national and international historical events. Their stories may be lost if measures are not taken to preserve them for current and future generations. For further information regarding Trevor Hosking’s book, the local series, please contact John Crowley of the Friends of the Museum: ph: (07) 378 0547 C/- Lake Taupo Museum and Art Gallery, Story Place, Taupo. You can no longer view the original census, the printout you are now restricted to is the one individual you are searching for, other people in the house names and ages are not recorded, but the street address, occupation and condition as to marriage is not stated, often the ages of the others in the house are also not stated. To view all get a printout of the original census you now have to pay either 1 month, 3 month, 6 month or one year's subscription, either to Salt Lake City USA or Jersey England. The Mormon Church has refused to pay, especially as most of the information on ancestry.co came from them in the first place. Due to refusing to pay and the fact very few people have joined to pay it to view, the new owner of this website is having second thoughts, so there is a possibility that this website will go back to the previous mode for the Mormon Church anyway, if and when this happens it will be put in a future in newsletter. Thank you to Peter Fletcher for compiling this article ☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼ Smile a While Exercise for Over 60's 1. Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side. With a 2kg potato sack in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, then relax. 2. Each day, you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer. After a couple of weeks, move up to 5kg potato sacks. Then 25kg potato sacks and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 50kg potato sack in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute (I'm at this level). 3. After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each of the sacks.
