Barn Rules- apply to everyone
1. Barn Hours are Monday - Friday from 8 am to 9 pm, Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 8
pm, (lights out at closing time).
2. Please keep all children closely supervised.
3. Running or screaming in the barn or around the horses will not be tolerated.
4. Dogs on leashes are allowed at Partridge Acres.
5. Jumping is only allowed during your lessons (applies to junior riders only).
6. When flatting, please abide by the rules of etiquette. Always pass left-to-left shoulder.
People in a lesson have the right of way. Horses/ponies jumping have the right of way.
7. Please clean up your grooming area before and after your ride.
8. Please clean up your horse/pony’s mess from the indoor arena and outdoor sand ring after
you are finished riding.
9. Please throw away all trash.
10. Please stay away from horses in fields and stalls-do not feed or pet horses/ponies unless
given permission by the owner or Partridge Acres staff.
11. The lesson schedule will be posted and lessons take priority in the indoor arena and/or
outdoor sand ring.
12. No lunging in the indoor arena/outdoor sand ring during lesson hours.
13. No Smoking anywhere on the property.
Payment Policy
1. Payment is due on the 25th of the preceding month (I.E. Payment for September’s month of
riding lessons/boarding is due no later than August 25th)
2. Payment is accepted in cash or check form, payable to Partridge Acres. Please ensure the
correct amount (including HST) and spelling is on the check. Please leave the check in the
provided Payment Drop Box and specify the student’s name and month that it pays for.
3. For convenience, it is required that you leave 3 post dated checks with us to avoid late
fees/hassle.
4. There will be a $25 administration fee for late payments (after the 25th of the preceding
month) and for returned checks.
Partridge Acres Student Rules
Dress Code
Boots: Paddock boots, with or without half or full chaps, or field boots (or at minimum boots with at least a
half-inch heel). Winter riding boots or other half-inch heel winter boots help keep feet warm in cooler
temperatures.
Pants: Jodhpurs or breeches (or at minimum fitted legging type pants or jeans). No Shorts or dresses/skirts
when riding.
Tops: Polo shirts or T-Shirts or appropriate sleeveless shirts with wider straps for warm weather (please no
tank tops). Long sleeves, vests, sweaters (please no hoods as they flop around and are distracting) and jackets
that are comfortable but not too baggy for colder weather.
Helmets: All students must wear a safety approved ASTM riding helmet (we have a small selection available
to borrow for lessons, but it is recommended that each student has their own)
Hair: Please ensure hair is either in a braid or braids, pony tail or tucked up in the helmet. Hair nets are
required for ages 12+ (if medium/longer hair) please ask how to correctly use a hair net with a riding helmet.
Gloves: recommended to protect your hands and keep them warm in cooler weather.
Cancellation/Make-Up Policy

1.In order to receive a Make-Up lesson, please give us a minimum of 24 hours notice unless an urgent
medical/health emergency occurs.
2.Make-Ups need to be completed within 30 days of the cancellation and it is your responsibility to
contact us to reschedule.
3.Occasionally, we may cancel or transfer lessons to another date or time. You will be notified and
given an alternate date and time.
4.Please arrive on time for your lesson. Your lesson starts and ends at the scheduled time and cannot
be extended if you are late.
5.PLEASE NOTE: Each month consists of 4 lessons/month (please follow Important Dates to Note)
6.Please clean up your grooming area before and after your ride. Put all brushes back and make sure all
dirty saddle pads and towels are thrown in the dirty laundry. Clean up your horse/pony manure.
Please clean ALL your tack and put it back on its hooks and racks.
7.Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your lesson time for tacking and grooming (if this applies to
your program).
8.Please leave ample time at the end of your lesson to properly cool and groom your horse/pony, and
to clean and return your tack (if this applies to your program).
9.Please return your horse/pony to its rightful stall and hang his halter up correctly. If it lives outside,
please put it back outside. DO NOT leave a horse/pony outside by itself. They must be paired
(please seek assistance from Partridge staff member if needed).
10. Riding students may wish to bring guests to watch their lesson and they may do so provided the
guests stay in the lounge or at designated viewing areas. Only students should be in the barn
(unless special permission is given).
Please follow the rules and procedures stated in order to ensure the highest degree of safety.
