DO WE NEED TO ADD YOUR
STREAM TO THIS MAP???
● Can you find your property? Does the map lack any water resources near you?
● TELL US WHAT’S MISSING --- TAKE A CARD AND ALERT US.
● Streams, ponds, springs, and wetlands cannot be protected unless
they’re known to exist and shown on maps.
● Tell us of named streams and ponds, or suggest your own names for them so we
can have our professionals add them to our map. More than two dozen
streams and twice that many ponds in Wallace Township need names.
WALLACE TOWNSHIP, CHESTER COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA
● 14% of the Upper East Branch Brandywine Creek watershed.
● All streams in Wallace Township currently are classed as High Quality Cold Water
Fisheries, or High Quality Trout Stocking Fisheries.
● If the Wallace Township streams were studied, some might even qualify as
Exceptional Value, the best 4% of Pennsylvania streams.
● Brandywine Creek is a major source of public drinking water, offers great recreational
fishing and hiking, and provides important habitat for birds and other wildlife.
● But there are problems. Some Upper East Branch streams have lost High Quality
status. Some streamside properties get flooded as upstream runoff volume increases.
● Land development is a persistent threat to our streams unless carefully regulated.
● Your help is needed to preserve our precious stream legacy, if you want to hand it
down to your children and grandchildren.
