Flap & Drop-Valve leakage rate: 15-30 litres per person per day, average 22.5 litres.p.p.p.d. These
figures have been in US textbooks for decades. ‘At any one time, in the USA, 1 in 5 of their toilets leak
at a rate of over 20,000 US gallons per year’ (American Water Works Association).
Siphon leakage rate:ZERO. Water ONLY goes up and over the inverted ‘U’ of the siphon when it is
lifted there to start the flush. The siphon is the ONLY flushing device that can NEVER leak because of
this.
