marketplace. The Fund is open to application
from craftspeople working in a production

help the jury understand the nature of the work
to be undertaken would be helpful.

are familiar with the applicant’s work and can
support the applicant’s ability to complete the

not always be practical.

the form.

This may occur should the jury have insufficient
funds to meet all eligible and worthy applicants.
Studio Visit. The jury, or a representative, may
find it necessary to make a studio visit at any
stage during the process.

out within a 12 month period from date of
approval. Final report must be submitted within
60 days of completion of work.

approval will not be eligible for reimbursement.
Payment of the final 20% of the amount
approved will be dependent upon receipt of a
satisfactory final report.

end of the funded start-up period. This report
will include:
1. A description of the studio, with photograph

will be considered by the jury in determining the
value of an award. Study awards may reach as
high as $2,000 for a student travelling outside
Canada to participate in graduate studies, while
an award of $250 might be made to a student of
a two-week summer program in Nova Scotia.

Industry Development Program for the project
in question.
Costs incurred prior to the date of receipt of
application will not be eligible for reimbursement.
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
Consideration of applications will be based on
the quality of the applicant’s work (based on
both technique and design, the assessed potential
of the student to complete the proscribed course
of work or study, and the applicant’s expected
participation in and contribution to the
provincial craft industry. Evaluation will be
made in relation to the expected level of
achievement based on an applicant’s previous
study and experience.
Incomplete submissions may not be considered.

monthly to consider requests for support.
