IMPORTANT CUSTOMER “PRODUCE ALERT & INFO” (Please Read and be aware)
ATTN: *ASPARAGUS* EXTREMELY HIGH & HAS LIMITED MARKET AVAILABILITY FROM SHIPPERS &
GROWING REGIONS. THIS IS DAY TO DAY on ALL SIZES. MARKETS ARE AT ALL TIME HIGHS AND
CONTRACTS BEING PRORATED, CUT AND IN ACT OF GOD MODE. THIS MAY CONTINUE FOR SOME TIME

ALL IS FAIR AT BEST WITH SKY HIGH PRICING ON WHAT WE CAN GET. THIS WILL CONTINUE FOR SOME
TIME. PRICES ARE IN ESCALATED MODE AND DAY TO DAY MARKETS WITH PRODUCT BEING
PRORATED.
ALSO: TOMATOES continue its UPWARD PRICE HIKES AND ESCALATOR MODES due to Lack of Supplies
in Florida this season and Mexico. Only Fair Quality. *This may continue for some time* until Mexico kicks
in some volume. Other East coast VEGGIE items such as SQUASHES, CUKES, BEANS, TOMATOES AND
OTHER VEG. ITEMS ARE IN A HIGHER DEMAND MODE VERSUS AVAILABLE SUPPLIES SO MARKETS
HAVE SPIKED UPWARD as the Northeast, Midwest and even some Western people are trying to Pull from the
South-East & Florida’s Products. The South-east and Florida is also expecting a Cold Front and Rain this weekend
so that does not bode well for the situation on VEG. ITEMS.
*ATTN: GREEN AND RED GRAPES ARE NOW IN THE FRAY WITH RECORDS HIGHS AND NO PRODUCT
AVAILABLE FROM OFFSHORE YET. NO SUPPLIES TO MEET DEMAND SO ACT OF GOD/ESCALATOR
MODE ON WHAT WE CAN GET. QUALITY POOR TO FAIR. BROCCOLI FLORETS & Other Broccoli Items *IS
STILL DAY TO DAY, WEEK TO WEEK*” Depending on weather, demand and Supplies day to day. Broccoli
Florets and other Broccoli products are in an “Severe limited supplies situation-* The continuing current cold
weather in the growing regions continues to make the prior markets even worse on Broccoli and the majority of the
Other Items in our prior memo(read below). “This is an Industry Wide Shortage and All Grower-Shippers are
Pro-Rating Distributor Orders” even Contracts. Also, ASPARAGUS is also in an EXTREMELY HIGH & HAS
LIMITED MARKET AVAILABILITY on ALL SIZES along with *Cauliflower, *Celery, *Brussel Sprouts, *Lettuces
and *Leaf and other various items in the Regions that continue to be affected along with their related
*Cut/Value Added products. Again, please be aware all of this is an Industry Wide problem for everyone on
these items and the produce industry as a whole. As we continue final transitioning of growing regions from Salinas
to Huron and now into the Yuma Season - the past Western growing region problems and weather as well as the
continuing current day cold & frost and Lettuce Ice in the Current Growing Regions are all a too familiar sight. We will
continue to see delays and limited volume and issues on many crops. It looks like the record high pricing,
availability and quality issues on “Row Crops such as Red/Green Grapes*Cauliflower, *Broccoli, Lettuce,
Romaine, Leaf Lettuces, *Celery, Brussel Sprouts, Cabbage,& Other Row Crop items” and all of their related
“Processed Cuts/Value Added Products” will also continue to have HIGHER markets & Escalated Pricing
along with expected shelf life & Quality Issues. This looks to continue on most items at least thru the end of
the year or even longer depending on weather and other variables. Weyand has had all products available to
our customers and we are expecting to continue having adequate supplies at this time but we ask you to
“please be aware as this continues”. Please make sure “product handling and refrigeration” is of even more of a
priority especially since we are the farthest away from the West in terms of shipping all the way to Florida.
Weyand, as always, over the last 70 years will do its best to get you what you need and provide the “best
product available or alternative choices”. We thank you in advance for your patience and will keep you
informed or call our customer service and/or sales department for any questions or issues. We thank you
for your business & understanding Mother Nature and what Produce Growers & Suppliers are up against.
