Conscious sedation for 45 minutes under my direct
supervision.

CT-guided lung biopsy.
PREPROCEDURE DIAGNOSIS:
Lung mass.
POSTPROCEDURE DIAGNOSIS:

Biopsy, percutaneous, with CT
ANESTHESIA:
1.
Conscious sedation under my direct supervision for 45
minutes.
2.
Location sedation with 1% lidocaine solution without
epinephrine in the subcutaneous and subcuticular
tissues.
DURATION OF PROCEDURE:
45 minutes.
INDICATION FOR PROCEDURE:
neoplastic process.

CONSENT: Verbal and written consent were obtained after a
detailed discussion of the risks and benefits of the
procedure including risk of pneumothorax, hemoptysis and
other adverse events.
TECHNIQUE: The patient was prepped and draped in the usual
sterile fashion over a suitable area marked with CT
guidance. Local sedation was given with 1% lidocaine
solution without epinephrine in the subcutaneous and
subcuticular tissues. A small skin incision was made with
a #11 blade. Access was gained to the lesion without
difficulty with a needle and a specimen was obtained. The
specimen was sent for pathological evaluation. Follow-up
CT examination was done to exclude pneumothorax. Chest
radiographs will be obtained after the procedure.
