The 5th Keele Headache Teaching Course 19th - 21st June 2014
University of Keele, Stoke-on-Trent, North Staffordshire, UK
Organised by the North Midlands Headache clinic
In conjunction with the
British Association for the Study of Headache
The course format will include:
 Lectures & interactive Masterclass challenging cases and “live patient” sessions to
illustrate the spectrum of headache disorders
 An update on the accurate recognition, diagnosis and evidence based management of
common & rarer headache & facial pain disorders
 Speakers based in UK and international specialist headache clinic and research
institutions
This intensive teaching course aims to address the practical recognition and modern
management of headache disorders highlighting recent advances in an interactive
faculty environment.
The total cost of the 3 day course including course booklet, 2 nights accommodation at
Keele University, all meals and course dinner in Keele Hall on the Friday will be:

£200 for Medical/Neurology Trainees & Nurse Specialists (Early Bird Rate £185
before End Feb 2014)

£240 for Consultants & Headache GPwSI (Early Bird Rate £210 before End Feb
2014)

Dear Colleague
It is my pleasure as organiser to invite you to the 5th Keele Headache Teaching Course.


Headache is one of the top 10 consultations for General Practitioners
Headache comprises at least 20% of Outpatient referrals to UK neurologists
The headache teaching course will be held at the University of Keele Medical school campus
in North Staffordshire from Thursday 19th June finishing lunchtime Saturday 21st June
2014
The teaching programme aims to address the following issues and will include:
 A lecture programme with Faculty course notes on the evaluation, diagnosis and
evidence based treatment of primary & secondary headaches by UK Neurologists and
Headache specialists based in regional & national Headache clinics

Practical aspects of headache management in addition to an update on recent scientific
advances on the pathophysiology of common primary and important secondary
headache disorders.

Interactive case based seminars, lectures and final day “live patients”

A residential environment with an opportunity to interact with faculty and future
professional colleagues.

Finally there will be an opportunity to enjoy the rural campus surroundings of Keele
University in the heart of North Staffordshire and course dinner.
Attendance at the meeting will be limited to only 100 delegate so registration will occur on a
first come first served basis. An Early Bird booking rate has been introduced in 2014.
