Clinical resource nurse (CRN) – King Fahad Hospital- King Abdul-Aziz Medical City- National Guard Health
Affairs [NGHA] - ICU. I worked as a team member of a group of clinical resource nurses (CRNs). We were
responsible for the on-job training, continuing education, research, quality improvement, and professional growth
consultation for the staff and charge nurses of the 21-bedded general ICU, 8-bedded Burn Unit, & 8-bedded
IMCU. As well, college students’ were followed, trained, instructed, and evaluated by the CRN (April 2005January 2007).
Instructor at the High Institute of Nursing– Ministry of Public Health, Doha – Qatar. I worked as a clinical
coordinator, as well I taught the second year students the following subjects: Adult Nursing (I, II, III), and
Introduction to Nursing Research (April 2002- February 2005).
Clinical Experience
Clinical Nurse Specialist in Critical Care - NSW, Australia, Agency Nurse Practitioner and Faculty Member at the
UNE, May 2007 till December 2009.
I.C.U. head nurse – Al Hussein Center (formerly Al Amal Center), a specialized center for cancer patients, Amman
– Jordan. A ten bed unit receiving patients suffering from cancer-related complications, post major surgeries, and
post bone marrow transplantation. In addition, I presented lectures to the registered nurses and resident physicians
in the field of critical care (Nov. 2001-March 2002).
I.C.C.U. head nurse -Al Istiqlal Hospital– Amman, a 12-bed unit, receiving medical cardiac and critically ill
patients, post CABG, cardiac valve replacement, organ transplantation, and other major surgeries (Nov. 2000 Oct. 2001).
I.C.C.U. nurse then night shift Supervisor – Specialty Hospital – Amman. An 18- bed unit. I cared for intensive
and coronary patients, post cardiac, valvular, renal, vascular, neural and extensive surgeries (July 1993- Oct. 2000).
I was one of the founders to the wards and ICCU of the hospital.
Professional Activities
 A faculty member at Al Isra University, Amman, Jordan: an assistant professor.
 Participated in founding and inaugurating many critical care units and emergency departments in different
hospitals.
 Participated in a number of continuous education activities in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Jordan covering areas of
clinical education and nursing practice.
 A member in the Evidence-Based Practice Center in the gulf region, in NGHA in KSA.
 Involved in many activities directly related to professional development of the ICU staff, i.e. mechanical
ventilation, mock codes, caring for neurological, cardiac, multi-organ failure patients, disaster management and
other subjects related to critical care.
 Participated in a workshop for curriculum revision and evaluation, sponsored by the North Atlantic College –
Canada -Qatar Campus (February and May, 2004).
 Participated as an instructor in a workshop for the clinical evaluation based on a competency based practice,
sponsored by the Ministry of Public Health, Doha, Qatar (February, 2004).
 Participated as a student, instructor and TOT in BLS and ACLS courses, affiliated to the American Heart
Association.
 Participated in basic and advanced ECG analysis and cardiac electrophysiology courses.

- The adoption of a voice recognition technology on tablet PCs to improve time efficacy in different type of
intensive and critical care setting. Currently preparing the software application.
- Working on the second patent which is concerned with a new concept in fracture traction system.

Hobbies
Reading (scientific and literature books, history and chronicle magazines…), basketball, table tennis, volleyball, and
logical debates.
Future Plans
I’m planning to continue exploring the field of education, critical thinking, and critical care. I’m developing my
research skills through working with national and international researchers in both qualitative and quantitative
methods. Qualitative data analysis is a challenging area and provides the nursing profession, especially in Jordan,
with crucial elements to progress. Within the qualitative domain, ethnography and hermeneutic approaches are
especially important to nursing research in our region to develop culture-based understanding of the nursing
phenomenon in the Arab countries.
Teamwork is inspirational to me. I wish to keep working in a team that supports and assists me to be an effective
member and benefit the profession and community. Quality patient care is another important aspect in my career. It
is in fact one of the main reasons for choosing Critical Thinking as the theme for my PhD thesis and Critical Care
Nursing Education as my area of interest.
I’m currently working at expanding collaboration to include multinational research studies, especially on wellness
(health) promotion in different populations. Working on international and overseas collaborative projects expands
horizon, enriches expertise and more. I still have more potential patents to work on; I’m planning to proceed into
this area.
