SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION AND CRITERIA
1. This application is for graduating Senior or Early Graduate high school students that plan to attend a college, university, vocational, or trade school to further their educational and career goals in the fall of 2014.
2. This is a Texas based organization and all applications will be reviewed, but priority will be given to Texas Residents living in the DFW area and connecting counties.
a. Relatives of the Harrison and Emily Kirk Foundation will also be considered for scholarship.
i. To be considered, relatives must have at least 2 hours of educational volunteering plus the requirements of the application.
3. All areas on the application must be completed. If section does not apply to you write in N/A or Not Applicable.
4. All forms must be completed and included with your application. All incomplete applications will be rejected.
5. If you are awarded a scholarship, you will be notified in writing.
6. All scholarship awards will be paid directly to the learning institution by the Harrison and
Emily Kirk Foundation
The following items are mandatory. Any application that is received not including these requirements as described will be rejected.
7. Students must have at least 2.0 Grade Point Average (GPA)
8. A 500 to 1000 maximum word typed or neatly written double spaced, essay on one of the two topics.
a. In your point of view is Social Media a hindrance or an aid to your educational process?
b. Does the present system of education encourage us to admit our lack of knowledge, or is there too much pressure to demonstrate the acquirement of knowledge?
9. Official sealed transcript.
a. Private school applicants must have a school official provide an explanation of the grading system on the school's letterhead
b. Transcripts need to be from an accredited school.
10. Submit a photo no bigger than a 4x6 and no smaller than a 2 x3. Please write your first and

last name on back of the photo. (Photos will not be returned)
a. Photos need to be on photo paper
b. NO group Photos
11. Two letters of recommendation. Letters must be from a non-relative and include the authors contact information
12. Ten hours of community service (Community service must have been completed between
August 2012 through March 2014)
a. Each organization served needs to be have its own verification form completed
b. If applying for scholarship as a relative to the Harrison and Emily Kirk foundation at least 2 hours of your community service needs to be related to education.
