Terms of Reference Agronomist / Farmer Field School Expert (National) Duty Station: Gaza province – Xai Xai or Chókwe Duration: I year contract (with possible renewals up to 4 times) Duties and responsibilities: Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative and the Assistant FAO Representative Programme, with technical support from the Technical Advisors providing TSS on FFS and in close collaboration with other participating UN agencies, government institutions and development organizations working on National Extension Program, the incumbent will undertake the following activities: - Overall coordination of the project activities in Gaza Province - Support the formulation of the annual work plan and budget for the activities under outcome one of the project. - Coordinate with FFS experts at province and national level (DNEA) on identification, development and adaptation of the curriculum, trainings and communication materials. - Supervise and contribute to the FFS training activities in the project area (ToT, ToF, Refresher courses) and organize farmer exchange visits. - Lead in the adaptation and inclusion of the module on livestock production for the FFS - Coordinate demonstrations on conservation agriculture, in the project area - Coordinate the activities related to post-harvest handling and improved storage and facilitating trainings on marketing and business planning. - Actively foster the active participation of women in ToF and FFS groups. - Support and provide in-service training of the Provincial-District FFS Training Team in organizing ToFs (methodology and content). - Ensure that training materials are timely available (locally produced or through national level). - Liaise with NGOs and private sector on participation of their staff in FFS training courses and implementation of FFS methodology in their organization. Provide advice on follow-up activities of graduated FFS and FFS network and curriculum. - Supervise and assist the District Officers in FFS and follow-up (FFS graduate group) related activities to FFS methodology. - Conduct regular monitoring and support visits to the project area to ensure maximum impact of the interventions. - Participate in the establishment of mechanisms to collect appropriate information of the monitoring and evaluation system of activities under outcome one of the project. - Prepare reports and other documents as required. - Undertake any other related duties arising within the context of the project. Qualifications and experience: - University degree in Agronomy, rural extension or related subjects. - At least 3 years work experience, particularly in the field of participatory approaches (FFSs), methodology development, facilitation and implementation. - General background in agricultural production (tropical crops including horticulture). - Fluent in Portuguese and working knowledge of English - Previous working experience with UN programme/projects (familiar with UN procedures) will be considered an advantage Terms of Reference Community – based Natural Resources Management expert (National) Duty Station: Gaza province – Xai Xai or Chókwe Duration: I year contract (with possible renewals up to 4 times) Duties and Responsibilities: Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative and the Assistant FAO Representative Programme, with technical support from the Technical Advisor on Natural resource management and climate change adaptation and in close collaboration with other participating UN agencies, government institutions and development organizations working on Natural resources management and climate change adaptation in Mozambique, the incumbent will be responsible for carrying out the following tasks: Support the formulation of the annual work plan and budget for the activities under outcome two of the project. Coordinate and together with local government, select the sites and communities for the implementation of the project activities related to community based natural resource management. Support the establishment of natural resources committees and community based organizations. Provide training and technical advice on sustainable forest management to the selected CBNR management committees (50 percent women members) and identify sustainable economic forestry activities. Support and coordinate the delimitation and demarcation of community land boundaries in selected communities. Organize and coordinate training in community based natural resource management providing modules on water, soils, agriculture, livestock and pasture management as part of an integrated approach to increase community resilience to climate change; Conduct regular monitoring and support visits to the selected communities to ensure maximum impact of the interventions; Participate in the establishment of mechanisms to collect appropriate information of the monitoring and evaluation system of the activities of outcome two of the project. Qualifications and experience: University degree in Natural resources, Agriculture, Forestry, Livestock or Rural Development; At least 3 years of proven experience working and living with rural communities in Mozambique; Fluency in Portuguese, and good working knowledge of English and the local language. Previous working experience with UN programme/projects (familiar with UN procedures) will be considered an advantage Terms of Reference Nutritionist (National) Position Title: Nutritionist Duty station: Gaza province – Xai Xai or Chókwe Duration: I year contract (with possible renewals up to 4 times) Duties and responsibilities: Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative and the Assistant FAO Representative Programme, with technical support from the Technical Advisor on Food and Nutrition Security and in close collaboration with other participating UN agencies, government institutions and development organizations working in food and nutrition security in Mozambique, the incumbent will: o o o o o o o o o o o o o Provide technical support to the nutrition component of the project. Support the formulation of the annual work plan and budget of the activities under outcome three of the project. Overall coordination of all project activities related to the nutrition education with the FFS and other community groups in the three main districts where direct assistance to the communities will take place and also will provide backstopping and follow-up of the activities carried out on nutrition education through primary schools in all the project area. Support the selection of the target groups (communities and schools) to be covered by the project, in close collaboration with participating UN agencies and government counterparts. Liaise with local health and education service providers in planning, implementing and monitoring nutrition activities. Provide technical support to the elaboration/adaptation of nutrition training manuals and materials. Support the education sector institutions in introducing the nutrition education teaching and learning material in the targeted primary schools. Link with local services of education and health to ensure that the training provided to teachers and other actors are re-passed adequately to the final beneficiaries. Assist in the development and implementation of an appropriate M&E system for the project activities related to nutrition and nutrition education. Conduct regular monitoring and support visits to the project area to ensure maximum impact of the interventions. Participate in the establishment of mechanisms to collect appropriate information of the monitoring and evaluation system of activities under outcome three of the project. Prepare regular progress reports as required. Undertake any other nutrition related duties arising within the context of the project. Qualifications and experience: o University degree in nutrition or public health with at least 3 years of related working experience; of which at least 1 year in nutrition education (NE) and the development of NE materials, as well as training curricula. o Sound working knowledge of Portuguese and English. o Familiar with gender issues and participatory approaches. previous working experience with UN programme/projects (familiar with UN procedures) will be considered an advantage Terms of Reference Livestock Specialist (National) Duty Station: Gaza province – Xai Xai or Chókwe Duration: I year contract (with possible renewals up to 3 times) Duties and responsibilities: Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative and the Assistant FAO Representative Programme, with technical support from the Technical Advisors providing TSS on Livestock production and in close collaboration with government institutions and development organizations in the livestock production sector, the incumbent will undertake the following activities: - Support the formulation of the annual work plan and budget for the project activities under outcome one and two related to livestock production. - Lead in the adaptation and inclusion of the module on livestock production for the FFS. - Coordinate the project activities related to livestock production and management, feeding strategies, fodder establishment and conservation, animal health and improved animal husbandry infrastructure. - Coordinate and support the vaccination campaigns. - Conduct regular monitoring and support visits to the project area to ensure maximum impact of the interventions. - Participate in the establishment of mechanisms to collect appropriate information of the monitoring and evaluation system of the project activities related to livestock production. - Prepare reports and other documents as required. - Undertake any other related duties arising within the context of the project. Qualifications and experience: - University degree in Veterinary, Agriculture, Rural extension or related subjects. - At least 3 years work experience, - Fluent in Portuguese and working knowledge of English - Previous working experience with UN programme/projects (familiar with UN procedures) will be considered an advantage Terms of Reference Administrative Assistant / Secretary Duty Station: Gaza province – Xai Xai Duration: I year contract (with possible renewals up to 4 times) Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative and direct supervision the Assistant FAO Representative - Programme, the administrative assistant is responsible for administration, finance and accounting of the project office in XaiXai or Chókwe, according to FAO regulations. The incumbent is responsible for the following: Support the project team ensuring the overall smooth administrative and logistic functioning of the Project, including the support to local institutions for LOA’s application. Set up a scheme for day to day office running. Set up, maintain and assist the project staff in filing and organizing project documents. Prepare recurring monthly imprest account reports for the project. Prepare disbursement vouchers for payments of salaries, travel claims and other authorised payments for staff members and suppliers. Maintain control of the project expenditures and commitments and assist in budgetary control by providing up to date information on the above. Assist in the supervision and control of the project equipment and maintain an updated project equipment inventory. Ensure good communication between the FAO office in Maputo as well as with other partners and government offices. Perform other related duties as required. Qualifications and experience: At least 2 years of experience in relevant administrative and accounting environment. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, in the language required. Ability to identify and resolve problems expeditiously and pragmatically; tact, initiative and sound judgment; ability to establish and maintain good working relations with people or different national and cultural backgrounds. Computer literacy; Fluent in Portuguese and good working knowledge of English.
