Research Participation Program National Vaccine Program Office U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Washington, D.C. DHHS NVPO 2010-0004 Project Description: A project is available for a research participant in the National Vaccine Program Office (NVPO), US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), in Washington, DC. The mission of the NVPO is to ensure an integrated effort in disease prevention through vaccine development and delivery. The primary responsibility of NVPO is to coordinate and facilitate activities across Federal agencies, particularly within HHS, and with external partners including state health departments, professional organizations, academia, industry, and the public. The individual will assist with a variety participate in analytic, coordinative and administrative activities pertaining to vaccine safety. These may include: Collaborate with the National Vaccine Advisory Committee (NVAC) to assure that their activities are integrated into HHS plans where appropriate, particularly in the areas of vaccine safety; Identify, address, and coordinate vaccine safety program and planning activities across HHS agencies, as well as keeping abreast of current trends and developments nationally and internationally; Plan, develop, and evaluate public health programs related to immunization safety; Analyze existing or proposed systems, strategies, services, or other health-related matters; Identify needs for improvement and the methods and resources to accomplish such improvements; and Prepare and/or assist with preparing proposals, strategic plans, government reports, journal articles, etc. for professional or other services pertinent to the program. The appointment is for one year and may be renewed upon recommendation of NVPO, based on project needs and priorities, and is subject to the availability of funds. The participant will receive an annual stipend depending on educational level, work experiences and complexity of the project. The participant must show proof of health insurance. The appointment is full time at NVPO in Washington, DC. Participants do not become employees of NVPO or the program administrator and there are no fringe benefits paid. Qualifications: Masters degree in public health or equivalent training in public health required. Knowledge of vaccines, infectious and/or vaccine preventable diseases, epidemiology, and health policy are highly desirable.
