Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct
This Code applies to all IAIDQ members and to all individuals who hold or apply for the
Information Quality Certified Professional (IQCP) credential. We hope it inspires and
guides all others engaged in information/data quality work.
IAIDQ expects its members and IQCP credential holders to conduct themselves ethically
and in a manner that enhances the profession. Specifically, members and IQCP
credential holders are expected to observe the tenets set forth below.
1. Honesty and Integrity
1. Be clear, concise and truthful in all forms of shared information.
2. Ensure your advertisements, research or other published materials
supporting or promoting a theory, position, product or service are based
on complete, accurate and factual information.
3. Openly communicate corrections or clarifications in a timely and
professional manner.
4. Clearly and accurately represent your professional credentials and
limitations in all employment and service engagements.
5. Build a professional reputation based on the merit of services provided
and achievements attained.
2. Respect, Fairness, Confidentiality and Trust
1. Proactively and fully disclose any potential conflicts of interest with the
appropriate stakeholders.
2. Abstain from opportunities where a conflict of interest cannot be
mitigated.
3. Give credit where credit is due. In particular, credit contributing parties in
your published works.
4. Respect and abide by copyrights, patents, trademarks and all the
intellectual property rights held by others.
5. Make your professional services and skills available on a fair and
equitable basis.
6. Vigorously protect all proprietary, private and confidential information
entrusted to you.
7. Promptly notify stakeholders of any intentional or inadvertent breach of
confidentiality, privacy or misuse of proprietary information.
3. Professional Growth
1. Seek professional growth as an individual through ongoing education,
practical experience, research and study.
2. Support the growth of our professional community through ongoing
advocacy, communication, collaboration, mentoring, publications or other
shared contributions.
3. Openly share non-proprietary knowledge, skills and experience with
peers.
4. Encourage and provide opportunities for the professional development of
others.
5. Strive to increase the prestige and competency of our profession through

exemplary leadership and conduct.
4. Community and Public Service
1. Hold paramount the safety, health and welfare of the public in the
performance of your professional duties.
2. Seek opportunities to volunteer professional information/data quality
services for the public welfare and common good.
3. Promote and encourage adherence to information/data quality best
practices in all forms of communications that are intended to influence
public opinion.
4. Comply with all laws, regulations, statutes and policies that govern your
business, work, professional activities or volunteer service.
