All sheep must be permanently identified using ear tags or tattoos. Ear tags are to remain with the animal for life and cannot be changed by subsequent owners.
Farm or Breeder tags should include the breeders name or initials and the individual animal’s number. (If Breeder’s tags are lost they should be replaced with a duplicate of the original)
DEFINITIONS
MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING:
Classification of Members
There shall be four classes of members in the association as follows:
(1) Regular Members are those persons over 18 years of age who are producers of natural colored sheep and in good standing.
(2) Junior Members are those persons under 18 years of age who are producers of natural colored sheep and in good standing.
(3) Associate Members are those persons who are non-producers of sheep and in good standing.
(4) Honorary Members are those persons over 18 years of age who are not otherwise eligible to be members, but in the opinion of the Board of
Directors, have performed services for the Association or in behalf of the natural colored wool producers warranting their appointment as Honorary
Member.
Good Standing
Good Standing means those Members whose dues for the fiscal year are paid. January 1 – December 31
Natural Colored (or “Colored”)
Animal must possess a minimum of 35% of fleece that is any color other than white, excluding hair on
face and legs. (White Sheep cannot be registered by NCWGA)
If a ewe is bred to a ram not owned by
the ewe's owner, The Certificate of
Service on this form must be
completed by the owner of the ram.
Breeder
Owner of ewe at the time she is bred.

Col 1
CR,PR or PL: indicates whether the animal is to be Pedigree Listed, Pedigree Registered or Certified Registered.
You may elect to PL or PR an animal that is eligible for CR.
Col 2
Sheep Name: Either animal's name, or the tag number assigned to individual.
Col 3
Tag No.: Your short farm name or initials and tag number.
Col 4
Breeder's NCWGA No.:Membership (formerly "Flock") number of breeder of animal, see "Breeder" definition above.
Col 5
Ram/Ewe: Indicate sex of animal to be listed/registered.
Col 6
Date of Birth: List month, day and year of birth of animal.
Col 7
Single/Twin/Triplet: Indicate birth status of animal.
Col 8
Color: Color of fleece on body at the base of the fiber: Black, brown, red, beige, moorit or grey.
Col 9/10 Breed type: List the predominate breed type for the dam and sire of the animal to be registered/listed.
Col 11 Tag No.: (Include preceding name or initials assigned) Ear tag number of sire and dam or animal to be listed/registered.
Col 12 NCWGA Cert or Ped.No.: Provide number by NCWGA for sire and dam of animal to be registered.
Registration numbers issued by other breed associations are not recognized by the NCWGA.
Col 13 Breeder's NCWGA No.: Membership (formerly "Flock") number of breeder of sire and dam.
Col 14 Color: Color of fleece on body at the base of the fiber on sire and dam at the time of registration.
Col 15 (Transfer): If this animal is to be transferred place an “X” in this box and fill out new owner info.
The registration certificate will be mailed directly to the new owner.
Transfers
If you are not a member you may complete the transfer of purchased sheep by sending the signed certificate to the NCWGA Secretary with the
appropriate fee.
