2- Course Goals:
The aim of the course is to provide students and enrich their minds with the requirements and
steps of good prescription practice and qualifies them to interact professionally with patients
over the counter in the community pharmacies through counseling. The students will learn and
understand: therapeutics and treatment guidelines of OTC which will enable them to deal with
common problems usually encountered such as diarrhea, constipation, common cold, influenza,
sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, . . . . . . . etc. After compellation of the course the students will also
be qualified to develop the gained knowledge in practicing pharmaceutical care in the
community pharmacies and how to improve patient’s adherence to his medications.
3- Intended Learning Outcomes of Course (ILOs):

After completing the course the student should be able to:
a.1. Understand processes of prescription practice and recognize applications of
pharmaceutical care and principles of counseling in Community
Pharmacies.
a.2. Understand principles of over the counter therapeutics.
a.3. recognizing common disorders, diseases, problems that are usually
encountered in community pharmacies
a.4. Understand treatment guidelines and pharmaceutical care for the individual
studied health problems.
