FATHER’S DAY 1. What’s „The Father’s Day”? Father’s day is a celebration honoring fathers . Many countries celebrate it on the third Sunday of June . It was created to complement Mother's Day. It is not a federal holiday. Businesses will be open or closed based on the day of the week. 2. Celebration. Father's Day is a time to recognise fathers and father figures who have influenced a person's life. It is celebrated through: cards, gifts, dining out, gifts such as electronic gadgets, household tools or time spent together. 3. History. It was first celebrated on June 19, 1910 in Spokane, Washington by Sonora Smart Dodd. She heard about Mother's Day in 1909 and told her pastor she thought fathers should have a similar holiday. Her father raised six children as a single parent. The local clergymen agreed to the idea and the first Father's Day sermon was given on June 19, 1910. THE QUEEN’S ELIZABETH II BIRTHDAY. 1. Something about. The Queen celebrates two birthdays each year: her actual birthday on 21 April and her official birthday on a Saturday in June. Elizabeth II usually spends her actual birthday privately, but the occasion is marked publicly by gun salutes in central London at midday: a 41 gun salute in Hyde Park, a 21 gun salute in Windsor Great Park and a 62 gun salute at the Tower of London. On her official birthday in June , the Queen is joined by other members of the Royal Family at the spectacular Trooping the Colour parade which moves between Buckingham Palace, The Mall and Horseguards’ Parade. 2. How does the parade proceed? Well, during the ceremony, The Queen is greeted by a Royal salute and carries out an inspection of the troops. After the massed bands have performed a musical 'troop', the escorted Regimental Colour is carried down the ranks. The Foot Guards and the Household Cavalry then march past Her Majesty, and The King's Troop, Royal Horse Artillery, rank past. The Queen rides in a carriage back to Buckingham Palace at the head of her Guards, before taking the salute at the Palace from a dais. The troops then return to barracks. HORSE RACING IN ASCOT 1. What is it? This is a great event in the British sporting and social calendar . Racing have already 300 years. For the first time it was organized by Queen Anne in 1711 . Last 5 days, from Tuesday to Saturday , and every day graced by the presence of the queen. 2. Where horse racing takes place? Racing are held at Ascot , a town in Berkshire , southern England , just 6 miles from the medieval royal castle in Windsor . At the time racing Her Majesty moves his residence to Windsor Castle to be as close as possible . Every day, about one-thirty queen goes to the races , crossing the Long Walk - chestnutlined avenue leading through the park surrounding the castle . The Queen presents the most important trophies racing in Ascot Gold Cup, Royal Hunt Cup and the Queen's Vase . Only those trophies winners can afford to stay forever . Others , and there are 27 , they must be returned after a year to enjoy the new owners . Besides trophies are also considerable cash prizes worth a total of three and a half million pounds , which makes Royal Ascot one of the most " generous " races in Europe. 3. Is it popular?
